I had been experiencing worsening pain and heavy bleeding during my menstrual cycles over the last few years. I saw my regular ob/gyn who diagnosed me with uterine fibroids, and scheduled me for a hysteroscopic myomectomy, which only made things worse. My quality of life was suffering, and when my cycles came I dreaded leaving the house as I would regularly bleed through maximum absorbency period products and ruin my clothes. I was also bent over in pain and needed prescription pain meds to get through the first 2-3 days. I realized that my regular ob/gyn just didn't have the background to be effective. Feeling frustrated from all the bleeding and significant pain, I started researching surgeons who specialized in fibroids and endometriosis. There was another doctor I looked into first, but he was booked for some time, so the staff recommended Dr. Morozov. After reading his extensive background in uterine issues, I decided to proceed with a consult. After an exam and review of my… history and concerns, he recommended a laparoscopic myomectomy to remove the fibroids and he would also check for endo during the operation. I was extremely nervous because the recovery was more intense than my previous procedures, but I was eager to resolve my issues and Dr. Morozov was very confident in his ability to safely remove them and give me relief. I didn't mind his bedside manner and felt comfortable with him; he's very direct, but friendly too. Preserving my fertility was also important to me and he was cognizant of that. My surgery went very well. He removed about 7 fibroids and didn't see any endo. The first 48 hrs were tough given the pain from the incisions, but it got better day-by-day after that. I only needed the heavy pain meds for about ~3 days. He advised that I might need two weeks to feel myself again, but I felt significantly better after the first week and even went into my office. The greatest joy was my last few periods post-surgery were significantly better! I only had mild cramping the first day, but didn't need pain meds for it. My bleeding also lessened. I had a follow-up appointment at the three-month mark, and Dr. Morozov said everything healed beautifully. No adhesions or scar tissue. Overall, I am very pleased with his care. I appreciated him answering all my questions along the way.

Had a hysterectomy several years ago at the Univ of MD - told Dr. Morozov that I scar easily and that I would prefer a bikini cut; instead, I ended up with a smiley face scar from pelvic crest to crest and numbness from my bellow button down to the incision as a result of cut nerves. Would have preferred that he listened to me instead. Make sure your doctor listens to you in terms of your wishes.
