Dr. Vaqar Ahmed is a double board-certified nephrologist specializing in the medical care of patients with advanced kidney disease and those undergoing kidney transplantation. He is a member of the kidney and pancreas transplant team at Hackensack University Medical Center.
His practice is dedicated to the comprehensive medical management of patients throughout the entire transplant journey. This includes the pre-transplant evaluation of both transplant candidates and potential living donors, as well as the complex post-transplant care required to ensure the long-term health and success of the new organ.
Dr. Ahmed earned his medical degree from Hamdard University. He then completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in nephrology at Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). This comprehensive training provides him with the expertise to manage the full spectrum of kidney disease.

Most kidney donors are able to resume normal relationships within two weeks of donating.
