Dr. Venkatasubramanian Baskararajan, MD

Dr. B as he goes by is truly exceptional — not only is his knowledge in both general medicine and psychiatry outstanding, but his approach to patient care is deeply compassionate and thoughtful. He takes the time to truly listen, making you feel heard and understood, which is rare and incredibly valuable. He doesn't rush through appointments, and his insights often go beyond just treating symptoms — he looks at the whole picture. You can tell he genuinely cares about his patients’ well-being and wants to help in the most effective and respectful way possible. His calm demeanor, deep expertise, and kind nature make him one of the best doctors I've ever met.

This is the best doctor I’ve been to for mental health. He’s not like a lot of doctors that just want to put you in a lot of meds. You can tell he really cares about his patients.

Dr. Baskararjan is EXCELLENT and I highly recommend him. The negative is that he is almost impossible to get an appointment with. The people who make appointments for him are not willing to work with people who have a need to get in. Sometimes it isn't a hospital emergency but a shorter wait period would be in the patient's best interest. Calls for cancellations are not done (or at least I never got one in over a year). I truly believe he cares but I feel that he isn't asked if he would like to work someone in. If you can get to him he's great!

He was very east to talk to, he goes by Dr.B making it easy for all us southerners.He spent 1 hour obtaining history and 30 minutes explaining diagnosis and treatment.He was the only doctor who has ever told me "It's your body you know it better than anyone else", such humility and wisdom. I had seen many psychiatrist in Mississippi and Louisiana and all of them had a different diagnosis for me. They treated me like an addict if I mentioned my marijuana use in my late teens. Dr.B asked me what marijuana did for me to help understand my brain chemistry so he could treat me with the right medications. He diagnosed me correctly with Borderline personality disorder. But the best part was he suggested a name of a book to read and then tell me if I felt the diagnosis fit me or not,rather than taking his word for it. He said "I don't want to label you with something you don't have", "I have known you only for 90 minutes, so read the book and ask your family and friends to read… the book to see if they also feel this diagnosis fits you". The only con He does do random drug screen if he prescribes any controlled substances. He does it twice a year and it costs $25 each time.
