Dr. Veronica Ruiz Baechler, MD

She spent 15 minutes with my child, dismissed years of documentation from other providers, and brushed us off. This set us back so drastically in the diagnostic process that it was years before our child got the proper diagnosis and intervention. She cost us YEARS of potential intervention because of her dismissive and insulting attitude. Worst bedside manner I’ve ever encountered amongst the dozens of providers who have interacted with my child. To make matters worse, her documentation claims to have spent 60 minutes with us when she barely spent 15 minutes and clearly didn’t read my child’s chart ahead of time.

Dr. Baechler made us feel like we don’t know our own child. We took our toddler to be examined by her and amongst her plethora of questions, she drew some very inaccurate and somewhat offense conclusions. She made it seem as though our child is inhuman and lacks any type of bond with us. The more we tried to explain things, the more oppositional and combative she would become. Upon interacting with him for about an hour, she gave us a diagnosis based on her inaccurate conclusions about him. While we were mostly expecting the diagnosis, we felt she was completely wrong about him and greatly exaggerated the severity of it. Her bedside manner was also poor, as she just rolled right into the diagnosis and pulled out a pamphlet for us to take home. She was extremely unempathetic. It made for an all around very hard and miserable experience. We will definitely request someone else on our follow up visit.

Doctor Baechler drew several initial conclusions about my child that were incorrect. After conducting a battery of tests, she changed her conclusions and (in our opinion) accuratly diagnosed our child. During the session she had two interns accompanying her, which made the meeting ackward with 6 people in the room (me, my wife, my son, Dr. Baechler and her interns). Overall, the experience was stressful.

She is quick to categorize children and ignore parental concerns. I have met other families that had received incorrect diagnosis of their children - not just my experience. Administration is aware of problem and has done nothing to stop it...they apologized, and stated that there have been similar complaints.
