Dr. Victor Owusu-Yaw, MD

I had the worst doctor's visit of my life with Dr Owusu. He wouldn't even look at me for the first 5 minutes after walking in the room. He completely ignored me when I greeted him and was blatantly rude when I asked questions. After those silent minutes when he walked in, he decided he didn't like where I was sitting and simply pointed to a different chair without any verbal request. Even before I heard the man speak, I was just appalled at his lack of bedside manner. He did a test, diagnosed me with carpel tunnel, and said I needed cortisone shots but refused to explore further even after I explained my history of neurological issues. When he gave me the shots he stabbed me like we were in an action movie. It's difficult to describe, but with each shot he stabbed once, then deeper, then deeper again. They were the most painful shots I've ever had. His injection was so bad that it caused a vasovagal response and I passed out before he even finished the second shot. I woke up bone… white and drenched in sweat with him snapping his fingers in my face, furious that I didn't tell him that I couldn't handle needles. While I don't love needles and they do make me queazy, I've never had an experience like that. He walked me to a bathroom and I didn't see him again for the rest of my visit. When I came out I found a chair and after about 20 minutes, not a single person had come to check on me. Barely able to walk, I stumbled through the building and out the first door I could find. I spent another 10 minutes in my car then drove home. If I'd been pulled over I'd have certainly gotten a DUI, but his office was the least safe place I could imagine at the time. My wife is a PhD in the same hospital system as Dr Owusu-Yaw, and after talking to her MD/DO colleagues, they agreed unanimously that the only thing likely to cause such a reaction is shear lack of skill at injecting. Considering his age and the amount of time he's been practicing, this is pretty crazy. Every one of them now refuses to refer patients to him, even though he's the only neurologist within an hour of Danville. He's known around town for his obsession with Bentley cars. Apparently he has four or five of them. He clearly values the benefits of being a doctor far more than the practice itself and based on the other reviews here, he truly doesn't give a d*mn about his patients. This man should not be practicing medicine and I vehemently recommend that anyone reading this finds a different neurologist.

My advice is to seek other options. Months of sub-par "treatment" with no definitive diagnosis and 0 construction with poor communication & staffing/wait times have left me worse off.

Terrible doctor done absolutely nothing to help my grandfather. My grandmother goes to the hospital for a stroke gives her a consoltation after we had told we did not want him as her doctor then brings a class full of students he hangs out at the hospital trying to pick up patients and charges for consolations and gives appointments then gets upset when you cancel

i Have dealt with chronic pain for years. Today was my first time there. The nurses and PA were very nice. The PA went above and beyond and showed that she had a heart to listen to my problems. When the Dr. came in he came in with someone shadowing him. I hope that soon to be Dr. did not watch a thing that this Dr. did. He was maybe in the room 2 minutes tops! As he walked out I said out loud....:wow, that was quick. He touched my head and found the sore spot and told his PA to put a shot into it. Never explained anything. What ever happened to Drs. that care and take time to explain to you what is going on with you. I left crying and continued crying the entire way home. This man has a lot to learn about patient care and listening. No bedside manner at all!

so quick to push me off to pain management when I have MS and need a neurologist!

He was the worst doctor I have ever had. He acts like I am crazy when I ask him a question. He gave me 4 minutes on my last visit and charged me for an extended visit. Made mistakes with my medication. Was a complete snot. I would have rated him lower than 1 star if I had that choice.
