Dr. Victoria L Cook

Dr. Cook obviously has health issues of her own. Did not seem interested in solving any problems I came to her office with. Very impatient with me. Agitated and obviously had other things on her mind. I will be looking for a new doctor or future issues.

I have been a patient for over 20 years- she is my PCP. I don't need to see Dr Cook often, as I usually see my GI doc twice a year for other issues(he's in the same office). I HAVE had opportunity to see her interaction with her "core" group of patients- those with diabetes. It appears that this special group gets the attention, the monitoring, and the bedside manner-which is fine, I understand that's where her special interests lie. Those of us with general health needs are pretty much ignored and shortchanged, if we don't need to see a specialist. Several family members use Dr Cook as well- one of them died due to a cancer which was undiagnosed for way too long. Needless to say I'm looking for a new PCP.

Dr. Cook is exceptionally understanding of her patients' needs. She devotes her time so willingly to patient care.

Getting an appointment is extremely hard. I once had situation and waited around all day for them to call me back to see me. Of course on a Friday morning. But my boyfriend had to keep calling them back hourly. They're always, "too busy". They finally let a nurse run a test on me half an hour before they close for the weekend. The nurse tells me that I'll have results via a phone call in 20 min. NEVER CALLED. I wound up on the hospital for four days, and the nurses in the ER stated that it was gross neglegence for the nurse at Dr. Cook's office to not notify a doctor of my state. When my family made a formal complaint, the doctor called back, on Monday stating that my insurance didn't approve her lab anymore, so my labs were sent out and were negative and that there was nothing she could do about it. Which would have been fine if the nurse didn't promise me a 20 min. follow-up. Dr.Cook had no concept of what pain and torture I had been through trying to get my doctor's office to treat… me. Despite that situation, I proceeded to carry Dr.Cook as my PCP. Later ran into a situation where I had an un-explainable swelling. I get in the door, and she can't figure out what's wrong with me. Sends me for several labs, and puts me on a hormone. Later down the road I was feeling some side effects of the medicine that were listed on the packaging, that said to alert the doctor immediately if it happened. I did, which happened on a weekend, when Dr. Cook called me back she told me that it wasn't possible, and that my symptoms should be referred to a specialist. She was rude and curt on the phone. This is not what you're looking for in your time of need. I'm currently in persuit of a new PCP.
