Dr. Vijay and his Broadway staff is incompetent and insensitive. My Mom had two strokes due to AFib. Dr. Vijay was one of her attending Cardiologist at the hospital. After her 4 week rehab release she had a f/u with him in regards to her AFib. After her AFib diagnose and 2nd stroke she was placed on Coumadin. My Mom needed to get her feeding tube remove and needed a Cardiologist to approve her stopping her Coumadin, since she was seeing Dr. Vijay we was to have him take care of this. Also the GI Dr. spoke to him on the phone regarding My Mom and what would be best for her in regards to stopping her Coumadin. Dr. Vijaybsaid my Mom was a complex case since she had a stroke while on a blood thinner already so he would address this at her appointment next week. The day of the appointment we as talking to the very nice nurse about my Moms stroke history and she told us that he would probably Bridge her. Meaning keep her on another blood thinner while she’s off the Coumadin. So we see Dr.… Vijay and he ask my Mom what’s she here for. Did she have blood clots in her lungs or legs and we both said NO, that she had a stroke. He then said oh yea I remember you from the hospital. I also told him that at home her BP bottom number had been running high, he said he’ll take care of that. He then listened to her heart and lungs and then starting pecking on the computer for about 10 mins. He turned around and said she’s done she all good. I asked him do she need Bridging at least 3 to 4 times and he said No and rushed us out the room. As I was checking out I noticed on her paperwork it said one of her condition was a blood clot in the lung. I told the receptionist that that was wrong. She said must already been in her records. I said NO it wasn’t of her other Dr paperwork. She then said he put it there wrong and would have to Change it. So I waited in the hallway another 10 to 15 mins until he came out the room with another patient. I told him that condition was wrong and he said that’s what we told him I said NO she had a stroke from AFib, then he says OH she needs to be Bridged and writes the RX on my sheet then tell the nurse (which was very rude the whole time) to call it in. Mind you they gave me NO other instructions on how to use this medication which is an injection. Before I left I told the receptionist to CANCEL my Mom f/u app because she would not be coming back. Three days later I go to pick up the RX and it wasn’t there. I called his office but they was closed for the holiday so I call the Coumadin clinic and the guy was nice enough to call it in for me since he wrote the script on my paper. But told me he couldn’t give me directions on usage because the Dr. office needed to send over a form. Monday morning I call his office and they informed me they canceled RX because I told them she won’t be coming back for a f/u. I’m like really and No one called me to inform me of this. Mind you my Mom stop taking her Coumadin Sunday night and I need to know when and how to use this new blood thinner. She said he didn’t want to be liable for her and I needed to get another Cardiologist to send the form to the Coumadin clinic. I’m like REALLY she was seen by you for a f/u and this, she paid her co-pay and you wont follow through with this appointment. Long story short the Coumadin clinic was nice enough to help us without the form. They was SHOCKED by his actions and even said a f/u is not even necessary with him after her stopping her Coumadin, that they handle that. So basically since she didn’t want to be his patient. He would not be responsible for her Coumadin stoppage. I am APPLAUDED. I have never experienced such unprofessional action. I think he need to retire he’s senile and don’t know what he’s doing. I would NOT recommend him to anybody.
