I think this is the best group of Dr/Surgeons in the South Bay. The very efficient staff preforms their tasks very efficiently. All in all my 2 visits were pretty pleasant.

I'm a 28 yr old male & a former patient of Dr. Muraliraj's dealing with an anal fissure. After a few months of trying to heal it with ointments, I finally requested to have a fissurectomy, which is a common surgery to sew up the fissure to help heal it. He agreed & also ENCOURAGED me to have a sphincterotomy. A sphincterotomy is much different. This is where they surgically remove a portion of the sphincter to help prevent fissures from reoccurring. It's seemed excessive for what I needed and with this surgery there is a 10% chance of becoming incontinent. Something he did not tell me, but I looked up. Dr. Muraliraj assured me multiple times that though it could happen, I'm a young male and the chances of this are very rare. He did not go into detail about the risks and really felt it was something that would help me in the future. I sadly agreed to the surgery, since he felt so strongly that I needed it and as one does with your doctor, I trusted his judgement. Unfortunately… I'm 2 years post surgery and have been incontinent ever since. I should have never had the sphincterotomy. It wasn't needed and now my life is much worse because of it. I now struggle with this every day and it has caused me to live a completely different lifestyle. I did a lot more research later and I learned that I should have just had the fissurectomy to start. There was no need for the sphincterotomy, but he and the hospital did make a lot more money before I agreed to have both handled. I feel foolish and sick to my stomach every day about it. I hope this helps someone else in the future as they make their decision re: the same issue. Be safe and get a second opinion.

Dr. Muraliraj was knowledgeable and easy to talk to along with answering questions which I had regarding my colonoscopy. I felt totally confident with him doing the procedure and the follow-up was informative and detailed. Would strongly recommend him to anyone.

Lucy was not clear about her bleeding problem yesterday. For the past two months the Hemorrhoids have been bleeding 100% of the time. Had an appointment with Dr. Vijay Muraliraj. Unfortunately no introduction when I met him, I waited an hour after my appointment time, straight to procedure, in and out approximately 5-7 minutes. No empathy what so ever, on my health situation. Many staff members not friendly. New Patients Beware.
