Dr. Vincent Alan Lombardi, MD

So glad he’s retired and his practice is closed! He should have never had a license! He was a joke! So glad I finally got great help from another provider in Charlotte! Life for me has been great for years now! He was a scam in the psychiatric field!

He is a horrible person, and that is about the nicest thing I can say about him. His dislike and contempt for women is palpable. He is obnoxious, angry, mean spirited and devoid of compassion. Please be aware that in my opinion, he is in need of counseling himself. A nasty man. Judgemental and takes pleasure in humiliating his patients. I experienced this first hand.

More of a medicine management specialist. He does really seem interested in addressing the underlying causes....and refers you back to a psychologist/social worker for behavior therapy. Could really handle most visits via phone if that was allowed. Probably a real good candidate for Skype visits. Note that wait time can very up to 45 minutes but don't be late or miss an appointment or you'll get dinged with a no show charge.

He is quite possibly the rudest person I have encountered in a long time. He kept pushing medications on me that I never heard of, or had a family history of bad reactions to. When I told him one of the medicines he prescribed was giving me suicidal thoughts, he brushed it off and said "they all have to have that warning." Really? B/c I didn't have those thoughts when I wasn't taking it. He doesn't listen. At all. He doesn't explain himself clearly, may as well been speaking another language. He talks down to you in a way. I left both times feeling worse about myself b/c of the way he talks to you. Save your time and money. The receptionists are nice and so was the counselor I talked to, but I will never go back. Not even if you paid me.

Obviously, you have seen that this guy is somewhat rude, all psychiatric doctors are. In the end, YOU are in charge of YOUR health. Review the medicine before you take it, read up on any diagnosis you'll be carrying around with you, change whatever you need to so that you have the optimal team members (doc + meds + therapist, if needed). Yes, he tries to foist meds on me all the time because I don't appear happy enough for him. I've been bipolar for 22 years (started out being manic depressive - remember that tag line?) I know what I have, what I need and where I have been. If you are not able to handle these sessions or his recommendations then bring someone in with you. But, I guarantee, like all doctors, this one also wants to be a hero, sell those meds and make sure you keep coming. HE IS YOUR EMPLOYEE. We have had a few go-rounds and I have told him explicitly that X thing was not going to be done, I said no, final answer. He will back down, just be a strong advocate for… yourself.

I am not at all surprised to read such negative reviews about Dr. Lombardi. I first saw him when I was 16 and continued to see him for "pharmacological management" for the next 6/7 years. At first, I was "depressed" then "mildly schizophrenic" then had "severe social anxiety/phobia" with "obsessive compulsive tendencies" and finally "bipolar" before he decided I was "bipolar type II". I honestly can't count how many different psychiatric drugs the man prescribed me, a couple of which he forgot about and gave me again. He's incredibly inconsiderate and condescending (and I've seen other psychiatrists) - he lacks bedside manner and his office once charged me for a missed appointment where I was 17 minutes late, although I had called them and confirmed he was, as always, running behind that day... my next appointment I waited ONE HOUR without seeing him and left and was told that, no, I can't have my money back for those 17 minutes. For a practice that is treating people with… mental illnesses, they have NO idea how to deal with an anxious person. One woman that worked in the reception area was very nice and courteous and constantly apologized for the way in which the practice was run. Aside from bad business, the guy is a terrible psychiatrist. He overmedicates, does not listen, judges you, blames you, and can really make a smart and sensible person feel like crap. After years of his abuse, I was finally able to wean myself off all meds and got myself together, I realize that maybe I was depressed and still deal with depression, but I wasted years of my youth on psychiatric meds that ruined me - adding to a lot of other health problems and crippling my self esteem. To top it all off, I once found a letter written by an old professor (long story how I got it) where she was writing to a friend about Dr. Lombardi and she had experienced much of the same that I went through! After reading these reviews, I can see that I didn't just have a terrible experience, but the guy is poison.

I appreciate how Dr. Lombardi helps me see different perspectives on situations and suggests options for solving problems. He's courteous, always professional, and has a deep knowledge of mental health diagnoses and medicine.

I saw Dr. Lombardi for 6+ years. I finally decided I needed to leave and find someone else who did not regularly tell me my mood swings was largely because I'm female! Very condescending and abrupt, he never seemed to understand what I was trying to convey. In addition, the wait time to see him was ridiculously long. Through all those years I saw him, it became "normal" for me to have a 3pm appointment and not have him call for me until 45+ minutes later. I did not realize what a sorry excuse for a mental health provider he was until I started seeing someone else who did not shrug off my concerns and actually saw me at the time I set up the appointment for. I would recommend looking for help elsewhere.

My experience was very negative and damaging. When I share what happened during my session with other professionals, I get sincere apologies and "are you alright?" reactions. He didn't listen but made assumptions based on stereotypes -- and admitted as such. He was negligent and didn't abide by the do no harm philosophy.

Dr. Lombardi is a whack job of the highest order! It would not take the average person long to figure out that HE is the one needing professional help! He is curt, arrogant, hard to follow, morose and rude. He will happily throw you out of his practice for any perceived infraction....Even if its all in HIS head....Don't trust him. Look into his eyes. They are dark. Really dark. The man is malevolent and has baggage of his own. He has a strong "God-Complex." Don't trust him, with ANYTHING. He will use it as a weapon against you later if he feels threatened or crossed. A real nut.
