Dr. Vipul N Nanavati, MD

I am a female and a nurse. My mother, son, husband and myself have all been patients of Dr. Nanavati. He is extremely knowledgeable and unlike most surgeons is not quick to recommend surgery. He is thorough and explains things in an easy to understand manner. Some of these reviews that state that he is rude and does not have a bedside manner. I have known lots of surgeons who would fit that description and Dr. Nanavati is not one of them. I highly recommend him!

Could not ask for a more qualified Doctor . He looked over the MRI ,discussed all options and treatments in terms which were easily understood . Made sure I understood treatment options . We set up a date for surgery in May of 2015 , He asked where I would like to have the pre -surgery exam . I elected my primary care physicians office . He advised me he would send the necessary information and forms to that office . When I arrived at the office for the pre surgery exam , they asked me for my paper work . I informed them that my doctor had it forwarded to them already. The nurse there said "Let me check your folder. " Upon retrieving the folder ,she commented " Wow , we have everything we need , No one ever sends this until we request it . " It was at that time I knew I was in good hands for my surgery . Had the operation , absolutely pain free , even the physical therapy after the operation was painless.I have complete use of that shoulder and strength and range of motion are 100% .… So if you remain a positive outlook and do what you are required to do after surgery you will be as good as new . If you think your pain will go away magically without any effort on your part you are vastly mistaken . No doctor or surgeon is God , you have to maintain an attitude that if you are going to get better , you must have a desire to get better. Which means doing the PT afterwards . My recovery was fast and Dr. Nanavati commented that my recovery was remarkable . I highly recommend him . I was 57 years old when I had the surgery , I am 61 now and with no pain in that shoulder and I am very active and my job is physically demanding. So if you have a bad experience with this Doctor look at yourself and at what you did or did not do . I walked into that operating room with the utmost confidence that everything was going to be fine , and it did turn out that way .

Beware to be spoken down to especially if you are a woman and don’t ask too many questions you may set him off! He can go 0 to 60 in a moment!

If you like being talked to like a 3 year old, this is the doctor for you. If you like waiting appx. an hour and a half to see the doctor, this is the doctor for you. If you like being told you need surgery when you do not, this is the doctor for you. If you like to be treated rudely by staff after you have suffered an injury, this is the doctor for you. Nothing positive to say. Thankfully, followed up with another doctor at another office who listened, honored an appointment time, and who did not perform surgery and injury healed.

Dr. Nanavati treated me for a torn labrum several years ago. From the very first visit, I felt a sense of relief. His knowledge and expertise were evident to me immediately. He patiently answered each and every question that I had at every appointment, and believe me when I tell you that I always have many questions. I understand that he has many other patients to see, so I completely appreciate and respect his time. I have seen him in both the Mercy and Lutherville offices. There seems to be a longer wait at Mercy, but I don't mind. I keep in mind that the patients that have gone before me may have had extra questions and/or emergencies could have happened. He has always been honest, but also kind, respectful, and compassionate. After surgery and physical therapy, I was able to return to my physically demanding occupation thanks to Dr. Nanavati. I have and will continue to highly recommend him to friends, coworkers and family who have shoulder or arm problems. I absolutely love him!… In fact, he will be performing surgery on my other shoulder for yet another tear, because I completely trust him.

No bedside manner. Unpleasant, unprofessional. Rushed through appointment.

Unprofessional, Very Rudd, Incompetent How did he pass the medical exam? He needs to learn beside manners. He must be very unhappy in his life.

The visit today, was very rushed and very matter of fact. You want my help or what, type bedside manner. I was very shock, cause he looked so nice on profile pic, but in person..... I'm swamped can we see what the deal is here. Just a little taken back by his coldness. I told myself, maybe he's having a bad day, but looking at some other reviews, it looks like he's been having a lot of "bad days"....... I think I'm going to follow-up with another doctor. The staff, we're typical, funny and jovial, I call it making the most of the jobs they have. I say, they did better then the doc...:)

The care I was given from the very first visit was awesome. Dr. Nanavati did a great job explaining all my options and the pros and cons of each. I have never felt more comfortable about a procedure. Thank you, Dr. Nanavati!!

Outstanding Physician in all aspects!!!! Listened to what I had to say, explained my diagnosis and my treatment in ways easily understood, and performed a successful surgery, resulting in the best recovery possible. Would highly recommend Dr Nanavati.
