Dr. Vladimir B Shur, MD

Dr Shur is a great surgeon. I had two surgeries and my carpal tunnel was 100% and my shoulder was 95%. He is doing my knee this Thursday and I’m not even nervous. I feel I’m in good hands with him and his PA Victor. His staff is amazing and right on top of everything. Ann is awesome. Thanks for everything.

Dr Shur treated me for a fractured hip. My case was unusual and he worked really hard consulting an oncologist and other surgeons that specialized in hip replacement and ending up finding a way to save my hip rather than doing a hip replacement. I feel really lucky to have ended up as his patient. I see some of the reviews criticize him for something like bedside manner. I can see why someone that is upset and not very sophisticated say that because he is very reserved and has a dry sense of humor but I would chalk that up to miscommunication. I would trust him with my life.

While I understand that surgery does have its risks and that as such, it may not be for everyone… If you are a highly active individual that can’t sit still for any length of time, are serious about getting back to functioning at full capacity ASAP (as opposed to waiting 3 to 6 months, or more, for your injury to heal on its own), appreciate an extraordinary surgeon with a great sense of humor who is attentive, straightforward, goal oriented and focused on results … who will give you back your mobility and zest for life after a very short “fix and repair” hiatus … and who will leave you with a very smooth thin line that is barely visible for a memento scar ... Then Dr. Shur is decidedly your guy!!! As such, he gets an A+ and five stars from this very grateful, satisfied, and life/fun-loving New York City dance artist. ~Margarita Abadie

It was a long tough road but Dr. Shur gave me back my arm. The tendon in my shoulder was torn off. He fixed me, it is as solid now as it ever was and I am stronger than I was before at 52. I would highly urge anyone with an injury that he would work with to use him. My name is John A. Curley and he did surgery on me twice in 2012 and 2013.

Had a horrible experience with Dr. Shur. Worst bedside manner I've ever experienced in my life. He was cracking jokes about the severity of my case, he seemed annoyed when I asked him to explain something or write something down because I wanted to do further research, and he even touched my leg in a way that made me really uncomfortable. He insulted the people who had just taken my x-rays across the hall. He insisted on surgery even though his PA had said I had non-operative options. Not to mention in my 1st appointment with him, I waited 3 hours to see him and then he didn't even look at or touch my knee, he just ordered I do an MRI. Seems like a sham to me. Dr. Shur is the type of doctor who would make comments on your body while you're under anesthesia; I would never trust this man under the knife.

Dr. Shur happened to be in the hospital when I arrived in the emergency room with a broken ankle. He responded to the call from the emergency staff and had me taken to the operating room immediately. He operated on my ankle again 10 days later and I saw him in his office two weeks after the second operation and again three months later. In all of my interactions with him, Dr. Shur was clear in his explanations to me. He explained what he had done and what I should expect throughout the healing process. He was kind, effective and efficient. I appreciate being able to walk again and I am very grateful for his expertise and his care.
