Dr. Walter J Matweychuk, PhD

In my experience, Dr. Matweychuk was a bright therapist who quick to challenge my irrational beliefs and even quicker to push me to face my fears. As someone who struggles with feelings on inadequacy and inconsistent support from my family, I needed a therapist who had more empathetic demeanor and more validating approach than Dr. Matweychuk had. If you are looking for someone to challenge your status quo or give you a reality check, I'd recommend him. If you need more emotional support or compassion, I'd recommend that you look elsewhere.

Dr. M is exceptional. The cognitive behavior therapy that he uses is different from psychoanalysis so some people may not like it, but for me, I was able to make drastic changes in my personality that were ruining my relationship with my boyfriend. I'm still working on myself and will always have to work at it, but I'm in a much better place than I was before I started meeting with him.

I felt like I walked into a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy self-help convention, not the office of a therapist who I felt comfortable talking to. Too many diagrams and acronyms on whiteboards, CBT buzzwords, promotion of his own website, worksheets, etc. I felt like I was in a one-hour college course taught by a mediocre professor.
