Dr. Warren Gregory Roberts, MD

Over billing, inappropriate comments and calling to charge for a diagnostic test from a previous visit: I went to A Smile Above because I'd had a TMJ Flare up and was really needing some assistance in treating it as my Family Dentist does not treat TMJ. Dr Warren Roberts did a EMG he said to be able to see where my TMJ was coming from so he could best decide where to put Botox. (Botox was not my first choice as it doesn't last long on me just about 8 weeks and doesn't fix the problem) He proceeded with the Botox and I was charged $2100.00, $250.00 for the EMG. The Botox didn't help at all with the pain and clenching, I also had terrible side effects, my lower lip laid flat when I smiled over my teeth not moving ,my eyes looked flat and tired due to a slack brow, I experienced 'depression' for 10 days (difficulty waking, concentrating, head aches) and my eye site got very blurry, so bad I went to my ophthalmologist. I tried to discuss these well noted side effects on the second… visit with Dr W. Roberts, which were ignored and his responses were very strange. He then hooked me up the the EMG and said that the botox wasn't working because I actually needed it in my neck, I said I didn't want any more and he was instantly and strange, he even made an inappropriate comment about the size of my mouth (Too small "Does your husband say that?") When I quickly left the exam room & stopped at the secretary, she attempted to charge me again 250.00 for the EMG and I explained that if the Dr felt he needed it to tell where to use the botox that patients shouldn't be charged 250 per appt for a Diagnostic Test and especially if it didn't work! The secretary agreed, went to the back room to confer with Dr Roberts and said I didn't have to pay. Approx 1 month later I get a call from Dr Roberts saying I had to come back and pay the 250.00. The conversation was so strange. I've never felt a Dr or Dr's office was "in it for money" but A Smile Above and the Dr's Robert certainly seem to be!

Dr. Roberts did a laminectomy (decompression) surgery on me in May 2011 shortly after he came to Oregon from Colorado. I found him to be very professional and understanding in everything he did. Dr. Roberts "corrected" another neurosurgeons surgery/treatment and I was very satisfied on the outcome! The other "Caucasian" neurosurgeon in Oregon was totally non-sympathetic and totally uninterested in the pain I was having before and after the surgery he did! I never went back to him! I have been trying to find this dr Warren G Roberts phone number since the one has been disconnected, so I called another Neuro specialist and asked about it turns out that he no longer Practices. :( Sad since I got my surgery from him in 2012 and my disc herniated in the same spot and was told that once I had surgery it wasn't going to happen again.

The Dr was very professional and didn't tell me anything I had not been told before, that I needed surgery. But, after my initial visit, the office staff scheduled a surgery without making arrangements with me. I live 60 miles from his office, and I needed to make transportation arrangements for myself. But, when I called them back, I called 3 -4 times. No one returned my calls. After a month, I finally reached a human, and made a second appointment. Saw, the Dr again, and gotten pre-op testing done, and never heard from them again. After shaking my preferred providers office to order the testing done. As for Dr. Warren himself, I found him professional and I felt comfortable with him. I liked him, and he did answer my questions. I didn't have any problems with him as a surgeon. My first time there he had busy office. I hope things work out for him. I would also like to get my records sent, and I called the office number but, it's disconnected.

A gifted and very talented neurosurgeon. The only reason I rate him average on bedside manner is he is a man of few words. For a person that has had back issues since she was 19 years old, I have a great deal of experience with so-called professionals and their treatment options.

Dr. Roberts was one of the most attentive, professional physicians I have ever had the privilege of seeing. I am so grateful to have had him as my neurosurgeon!

Like many of you I did my research. I found things that made me second guess if he was a good fit. I thought deeply about our rapport. The interactions I had with him were educational and relieving. He gave me optimism and hope that had been lost for almost two years. I had my back surgery and there was relief as soon as my anesthesia wore off. As it was a battle to get to this point of correction and I'm thankful for Dr. Roberts and his skills for getting me on a path of progression.

I was experiencing back pain and partial paralysis in my legs. Based on my MRI Dr. Roberts told me I needed back surgery and that if I didn't have it there was a very good chance I'd end up permanently disabled. He didn't even bring my MRI up on a screen to walk me through the details behind his diagnosis. I decided to get a second opinion. It turned out that yes, like a lot of people my age I have some bulges in my disks. But my real problem was Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS). My GBS healed itself and afterwards I signed up for physical therapy, then yoga, and also did a lot of bike riding and weight lifting. Rather than being disabled I am now quite fit and commonly go for 50-80 mile bike rides. I think Dr. Roberts "treatment" was not only shoddy but potentially harmful. The other doctors I visited went to great lengths to review my MRI results with me and to point out why they thought I definitely did NOT need back surgery. Their recommendations made me feel that Dr. Roberts was in… it for the money not for the patient.

Roberts comes across as knowledgeable and gives the impression that everything is easy and is going to be OK. DON'T FALL FOR IT. Roberts operated on my dad's spine, and did not finish the job or did not clearly diagnose the problem. Two years later he is suffering more and it is putting a strain on the rest of his body,including his heart. Considering my dad's age, Roberts was probably the last chance my dad had to clear up an otherwise easy fix. Because of this hack job, my dad lives on Percocet. Dad has another appointment with another spinal surgeon who apparently, with numerous testing has been able to pinpoint the exact problem. Thank God Roberts left Denver. Good Luck Oregon and beware!

My daughter has been diagnosed with a pons tumor, which is a tumor involving the brain stem. Dr. Roberts was given as a referral. The nurse came in and checked vital signs, very pleasant, and then she left to get the doc. Came back in a little while saying that the doctor had looked at the MRI and did not feel that he would be able to treat her and she should go to another neurologist. Does that mean that the tumor is not operable and she is doing to die or does it mean that everything is okay. We left the office with absolutely no information. I would not recommend anyone to this physician. He did not treat this patient with any respect and I felt that he was the most unprofessional doctor I had ever encountered.
