Dr. Wyatt has been my primary care doctor for about 30 years. I sent him my first email through the new system up and running with Deaconess Health yesterday letting him know all I've been through lately and finding out I have a mass in my liver. I also told him my Endocrinologist wanted him to refer me to a new pain management doctor because my current doctor refuses to stop giving me spinal epidural injections that have only worsened my spine and in his words "were literally burning my spine." If you refuse the injections, he withholds your pain meds or fires you. So I told Dr. Wyatt I didn't understand why after KNOWING me for 30 years he still refused to help me with my meds. He had mentioned something in the past about the hassles with the DEA/government, etc. , to which I replied he should have no problems whatsoever due to the fact we go back 30 years and he most definitely has a doctor/patient relationship with me and records about a foot thick of every disease and… illnesses I have to date which now is up to 19. This is one of the reasons the DEA and other government entities "raid" doctors who prescribe pain meds is they don't keep thorough records. Well Dr. Wyatt most certainly does and has for 30 years. He just doesn't want the hassle of it, but doesn't realize there would be no hassles since we have a 30 year history together. Still, he won't help me. I told him in this email I just simply did not understand why he refused to help and also let him know my Endocrinologist and I had talked about it and that I had found another pain doctor and the Endo doc sent Dr. Wyatt a letter by email, I have no idea what was said, but I asked him in mine to please get me referred into this new doctor. I woke up this morning to find a response from him in my email and signed into the site for Deaconess only to find out, and these are not his words, but something said by whoever wrote the email speaking THROUGH him, that "Dr. Wyatt feels that since you are so unhappy, blah ,blah, blah, with him, which I NEVER SAID, that he felt our relationship should be terminated! That I will be receiving a certified letter of him firing me. WHAT????? OH NO! So I emailed back and asked, If I can't share my feelings with my primary care doctor, who am I supposed to share them with????? Yes, I am going through heck right now with my health. And then to just find out I have a mass in my liver that might be malignant?? And he does this to me??? Patients aren't allowed to have bad days?? He knows full well what I'm dealing with and have been since I was 22 years of age and I am now 57. He knows I am disabled and have been since 2000 and unable to work. Does he even realize he is violating my civil rights according to the Americans with Disabilities Act? I didn't say that to him, but I will if this does indeed happen, him firing me. He is a darn good man, but I question at times his abilities as a doctor because he doesn't seem to "get" a lot of the newer illnesses and diseases cropping up. It makes me wonder if he goes to required continuing education classes they are to go to each year to keep up with things??? I was diagnosed last year with THE MOST painful disease known, RSD/CRPS, a very rare disease. He knew nothing about it and hadn't even heard about it. This is very very upsetting to me and I'm extremely sad and depressed about this. And, if I have to, I will go the State Medical Board regarding all of this. For me to send my own doctor an email expressing my worries about all that is going on, only to get fired? This is not right. You don't do that to people you are supposed to care for.
