Dr. William Bruce Harrell, MD

I would give 10 Stars if I could. Highly recommend. Excellent urologist with an equally excellent staff. From check-in to surgery everyone was courteous, professional and efficient. Christus hospital/surgery experience was beyond anything I have experienced. I believe you can trust your care to Dr. Harrell and his staff.

Scheduled an appointment after a referral from my primary physician. Chose to see him for two reasons, one was I had seen him approximately five years ago about the same condition, and two he comes to the clinic in Jacksonville so it made it more convenient for me plus I thought he would have access to my records as well as what he had found in the previous visit. After seeing him and telling him what was going on, he suggested having a CT scan to check for kidney stones as a cause for the pain in my pelvic area. Then after we discussed that, it was like he was done and had not even mentioned the primary reason I had made the appointment until I asked him what about the other issue. He then told me it would need to be dealt with as a surgical procedure and that was about all the explanation I received that day. Then later, after the pricey contrast/non-contrast CT scan he actually called me and gave me some information. I had to ask him the same question three separate times before he… gave me an answer. Not sure about other folks, but when it involves surgery on my body I like to know ALL the options and possible outcomes before I even consider. I am waiting on my primary care physician to give me a call to get a referral to another doctor for a second opinion before we even consider going forward.

Spent considerable time explaining his diagnosis, action to take to minimize problem, prescribe extremely helpful medication. Most cordial doctor I have visited in 20 years.

After reading the three reviews on Dr. Harrell I must have seen a different doctor or only people who are displeased write reviews. I felt compelled to relay my views. Dr. Harrell reviewed my CT scan which showed two large kidney stones. After discussing with me my options we agreed on a Laser Lithotripsy. As I was leaving on a trip we decided to do the surgery before I left rather than running a risk of something happening on an overseas airplane trip. He spent more than sufficient time with me describing the surgery and the care after. I found his bedside manner to be a breath of fresh air and after the surgery, he explained in great detail to my wife the results while I was in recovery. I leave for Europe tomorrow with a big sigh of relief and a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Harrell.

Don't waste your time with this doctor. I was referred by a GP for bladder infections I had experienced. He looked at me the whole time like I was wasting his precious time. He never examined me for possible prostate or bladder stone issues that could have contributed to my bladder infections. When I asked him questions about nutrition, he didn't have a clue. So what if he went to Baylor Medical. Obviously, he paid too much for his poor education.

Trying to schedule surgery with Debra has been a real headache. She is never in the office and doesn't return calls. We finally scheduled our surgery and have questions about post surgery appoinments. This is now three days in a row i have tried to get in touch with her to no avail!!!! Really like Dr. Harrell and his front office staff. However we are thinking about finding new doctor.

After calling his office 3 times for him to contact me due to pain after surgery he failed to respond. I called another urologist and saw him right away. He called me at my house. He is also a highly respected urologist in town.
