Dr. William Giles Allen, MD

I saw Dr. Allen for over 5 months and he refused to consider an alternative diagnosis than the one he insisted was my problem (gastric reflux). Upon my insistence further testing proved this was not my issue. I went back to my Primary Care Physician and he referred me to Duke Medical in Durham where they were able to get me on the road to a resolution of the problem. Dr. Allen is smug and totally unprofessional (when questioned by my husband as to why the "twilight anesthesia" used during a bronchoscopy had such an adverse reaction on me, Dr. Allen replied that I was "like a cheap date"!!). I have already advised one friend from seeing him and I would not recommend him to anyone who wanted to get some real results!

Dr. Allen takes his time with you and speaks with you so that you can understand. Very courteous and honest. Staff very courteous as well

difficult to talk to, doesn't return phone calls multiple times, changes diagnosis on whim with no testing based on whether he believes you.

I went to Dr. Allen my oxygen was 89% and I could barely walk. He gave me a shot of solumedrol and uped my prednisone and sent me home, well he thought. I went to the ER and they gave me an immediate breathing treatment and I ended up in so much distress they had to put me on the vent. Come to find out as soon as we left his office he called the ER and told them I would be coming in. My question and problem is why didn't he tell me to go to the ER from his office. I am SO mad at this man I could scream. To say the least I am NOT going back to him.
