Dr. Gramig is a native of Kingsport, Tennessee.
He received his B.A. in Biology form the University of Tennessee where he was a Phi Beta Kappa. He also received his M.D. degree from the University of Tennessee where he was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and awarded a traveling scholarship to study medicine and surgery in Japan.

After completing a general surgery internship, Dr. Gramig completed his orthopaedic residency at The Campbell Clinic in Memphis, Tennessee where he was Chief Orthopaedic Resident. Dr. Gramig completed a fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at The Indiana Hand Center, where he completed advanced hand and microvascular surgical training. He began his practice with Greensboro Orthopaedic Center in 1999 and is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Gramig is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Gramig also holds a certificate of Added Qualification in Surgery of the Hand, and is a …member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. He has served as a Captain in the Army National Guard and has presented hand and orthopaedic research at numerous national meetings.

Dr. Gramig's non-professional interests include running, golf, fishing and swimming. He is married to the former Vicki Lee Bailey, and they have two children, William Mansfield Gramig, IV and Caroline Grace.

Dr. Gramig, is a great doctor very caring and great personality. he does not rush and treats you as if you are his only patient..The best hand surgeon in NC.

this man is a god! i am sure i would have lost the use of my primary, right arm after crushing it in a fall. dr grammig's superior skill saved that arm!!! i would not see any other doctor ,for a hand/wrist injury , ever!!!! his bedside manner is delightful, and quells all nervousness, the minute he enters your room...

Three years ago I fell while walking my dog and broke my elbow. Dr. Gramig operated on me at 10:00 in evening. He had to replace the ball and elbow joint with titanium. He did an awesome job. I have full use of elbow as if it has never injured. Wonderful bedside matter. thank you Dr. Gramig.

I would rate his service but I couldn't get by the HOURS OF WAITING ON THE PHONE to get an appointment. Not to say unable to get an appointment online.... I suggest better customer service is necessary !!

Dr. Gramig is truly outstanding as a Doctor and individual! His goal was to help me regain full use of my wrist - he explained thoroughly what he would do in surgery and what I would need to do in recovery. Both he and Brian his PA helped motivate me post-surgery to insure that I was doing my self-therapy to regain use of the wrist. Dr. Gramig was instrumental in helping me start occupational therapy early and monitored my progress along the way. Dr. Gramig treated me as a friend and in each visit was very careful to explain everything in terms I could understand. Greensboro Orthopedics is fortunate to have someone with both his surgical skills and bedside manner on their staff.

WELL after 1 year my wrist is doing great !!!!!! Should not be able to even use it; but after Gramig done his thing......it still works !!!!!!!! GREAT JOB

Crushed my wrist day fter Thanksgiving, the local Doctor told me that he needed to fuse it, I ask for another Dr. from near by town, same thing, a lady at church told my wife to take me to see Dr. Gramig, after loking at the xrays, he and Dr. Buchanan said they could fix it, well after 7 weeks I have over 60% use back, and after a few more weeks I think it will be back to 100%, what I am saying is when all the Kings Men can't put Humpty Dumpty back together.......Go See The MAN..Dr. Gramig Great guy.... and even from my home town of Tenn.

I unfortunately had to wait quite a bit to see Dr. Gramig as there was some emergency that made him run behind, but it was worth it. His bedside manner is absolutely wonderful! He took time to talk to me and explain the problem. He is not scapel happy and said so. I felt as if he genuinely cared about me as a patient and a human. I would definitely recommend him to any & everyone!
