Dr. William A Merva, MD

Dr. Merva is the greatest! I've been a patient of his for many years for sleep apnea, essential tremors, seizures and a benign pituitary tumor. It's true, it could be hours after your appt. time before you are seen. I'm guessing that's because he is the best and I am willing to wait to see him. He has no problem referring you to another specialist if needed. My neurosurgeon at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center speaks very highly of Dr. Merva.

Waiting room time is way too long. However, Dr. Merva is very patient and takes the time to answer any questions and concerns.

Wait time is always several hours. Multiple patients scheduled every 15 minute appt times. If he gets called to the hospital, forget it!

My doctors in Morgantown told me that I needed to see a neurologist close to home so I could be followed up more closely. I go to Morgantown every 6 months for MRI and see my neurologist there for an Anaplastic Astrocytoma (brain cancer) that I had to have two surgeries for to remove...not to mention the chemo and radiation that followed. I see Dr. Merva every 3 months and he is a GREAT doctor. He is very caring and listens to what you are saying. I think the main reason why people have to wait so long to see him is because he will stay with his patient until they are done discussing their problems/concerns....It is WELL worth the wait!!!

So far he's a good doctor but bring a book with you its a lond wait!

Dr Merva is one of the most qualified Dr's in his field. If he doesn't know exactly whats happening, he will find out for. He wont quit until he does find out what is going on with you and what can be done. When other Drs cant find the problems he will and not stop until he does. He is a tremendous MS Dr I would not trade him for nothing or any other Dr near or far away. Hes great I trust my life and ability to moe on with him and have for 13 or 14 years. Hes the best.

I was experincing debilitating migraines and all the doctors I had seen in the past would put me on narcotic pain meds. Dr. Merva prescribed me a combination of two meds (non-narcotics) and my migraines are now gone!!

It is a given in our town that you will wait forEVER to see Dr. Merva. My first visit I planned in advance to be out of work the rest of the afternoon for a 1pm appt. Glad I did. Staff are not the warmest or friendliest, building is old and musty, but Dr. Merva did listen to me, showed interest in what I had to say and made a consult over the phone while I was there in order to provide the best of care. If he can assure me that the problems I am experiencing are not life-threatening, then putting of with the negatives are worth it.
