Dr. William Alan Morton, MD

ALAN MORTON, MDDr. Morton was born and raised in Waycross, Georgia. He graduated from Waycross High in 1987 and then went on to graduate from the University of Georgia in 1990 with a B.S. in Chemistry. Dr. Morton attended the Medical College of Georgia and obtained his Doctorate of Medicine in 1994. He completed his residency at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky in 1997. During his residency, Dr. Morton was named Intern of the Year by the faculty members.Dr. Morton’s ultimate goal was to come back home to Waycross to practice medicine in a small community he loved. In 1997, he joined Blackshear Family Practice / Georgia Physicians South and has been a partner there for 21 years. Dr. Morton is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and recently earned his recertification for another 10 years. Currently, Dr. Morton serves as the Chief of Medicine at Memorial Satilla Health, where he also works as a hospitalist on a rotating basis. He has maintained …leadership roles within the healthcare community throughout his career.Dr. Morton also takes an interest in providing nursing home care and currently serves as the Medical Director of Baptist Village, Waycross Health & Rehab, and Harborview Satilla. He and his wife, Kelly, have been married for 25 years. They have 4 daughters, Lindsey, McKenzie, Natalie, and Meleah. His oldest daughter Lindsey just completed her first year of medical school at the Medical College of Georgia and hopes to follow in his footsteps by returning to Waycross to serve the medical needs of her hometown community.
