Dr. Winnifred Lamarre, MD

I've been seeing her for over a year. She's kind and attentive. It's easy to book an appointment with her either by phone or with the patient portal which is available to all her patients. She never rushes you and you feel that she give you her full attention. She's do the usual vitals like blood pressure, pulse. and listening to your heart. She'll have blood work issued and it can be down right there. No sending you to another lab. She'll email results to you and invite you to come if if there's a need to discuss your health. Prescriptions are sent electronically to your choice of pharmacy or mail order service. Referrals to specialists are sent to you by email as well. She's also available by email if you want to send her a message and she usually responds within 24 hours.

Intelligent, thoughtful doc (some aren't, you know). Took time to explain why she chose, or not, to test certain blood levels for my annual. Always answered my questions patiently (I'm not always easy).

When I joined One Medical, I thought the annual fee would provide convenience and better access to medical care. I did not realize that their approach would be focused on business instead of patient care. When I started seeing dr. Lamarre, I had been on stable doses of maintenance medications for many years. My doctors in the past had always refilled those maintenance medications between visits and asked that I see them for annual checkups but did not otherwise need to come into the office as long as my health status did not change. Dr. Lamarre had a very different approach. She insisted that I come in to the office for a follow-up visit every time I requested refills. As it was very difficult to get in so frequently, I often ran out of medication and went without until I could arrange a time to go in. Dr. Lamarre did not work many weekdays, so this made getting in to see her even more challenging. Each time I came in, all she would do would be to ask if anything had changed and then… write the prescription. I asked her why it was necessary to come in every time just to refill medications I had been on for years when nothing was changing. She indicated it was just office policy. It was only then that I realized that they run this practice purely as a business. It is not about patient care, but rather about the bottom line. She was not having me come in because of concern about my health, but rather to be able to charge me for a visit. I am very discouraged by this experience and this unprofessional approach to the practice of medicine.

This was my first visit with Dr. Lamarre and I was pleasantly surprised by both the staff and the doctor. The staff at One Medical Group is courteous and professional from start to finish. Dr. Lamarre does a thorough intake asking all the right questions all the while keeping a human connection that has pretty much disappeared in the medical profession. I no sooner had left her office before I got an e-mail with some follow up information for one of the issues I had discussed with her. I was looking for a new doctor and I think my search is over before it began..
