Dr. Yuange Hu, MD

I do not recommend. After being my psychiatrist for > 8 years, she quit on me totally unexpectedly on the phone! She sounded over emotional and told me twice, “I am done. I don’t want to hear ‘I’m not feeling well’.” She ended our session by saying “I wish you the best. I want what is best for you”, then hung up immediately before I could say anything! Her reason for quitting without any notice was that I had just completed a several-week day program for alcohol use disorder, and I told her I wanted to try drinking in moderation on the weekends only. She told me she was disappointed, and that I had to find another psychiatrist. She ethically should have given me a couple of days (at least!) to reconsider my plan, maybe run it by my therapist, maybe be my psychiatrist until I had found another one. Apparently, she couldn’t meet me where I was on my journey to either being capable of drinking in moderation or to accepting complete abstinence. I especially would not recommend this doctor… if you have a co-occurring substance use disorder.

Dr. Hu seems more concerned about insurance and getting payments than she does about her patients. She never asks how you are feeling or doing, just wants her money. She is late for appointments and has a bedside manner that seems less than sympathetic or caring. I feel as if I am wasting her time while I am there, she always seems rushed and just wants more appointments made.

I find that she is not understanding to American cultures. She repeats the same things every visit and doesn't really listen and goes on tangents and nothing gets easier except the fact you know she is getting paid by insurance taking your copayment and writing the RX then making another appointment. She is late 75 percent if the time, over books and always seems rushed. Wouldn't recommend she doesn't care if medications don't work or have side effects.
