Dr. Yuriy Dobry, MD

Dr. Dobry is a Board-Certified, Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatrist whose clinical focus is on patients with treatment-resistant depression, bipolar spectrum disorders and other mood disorders. Dr. Dobry’s father was a psychiatrist, and medicine was always in his future growing up. He was drawn to Psychiatry as a field in medicine with more room for flexibility in treatment, and an opportunity to dissect a narrative and uncover clinical facts to lead to a patient’s relief from suffering. After years of practicing psychiatry, most recently as the Medical Director at the UCSF’s Pediatric Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program, Dr. Dobry sees a patient’s motivation and engagement as a crucial part of the treatment process. He builds trust with patients and believes the doctor/patient relationship plays an essential role in treatment success. He has experience helping more complex patients and adolescent patients and finding medical approaches to relieve their suffering. Having led a …mood disorders clinic in an academic institution that specialized in treating patients with depression and bipolar disorders, he is extremely interested in using Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation as part of his treatment regimen for treatment-resistant patients, as it adds another tool in dealing with a challenging psychopathology. With his strong experience in medication management and passion for helping depressed patients where traditional treatment paths have not been successful, he sees TMS as an opportunity to alleviate extremely taxing symptoms of depression, especially when used in conjunction with more classic pharmacologic treatments.
