I was going in for a second opinion and suggestion on to help my condition that had been previously diagnosed as a herniated disc in the t6-t7 area with periodic pain wrapping around the left side. I was in extreme pain with a burning sensation associated with standing, sitting, leaning with the only relief being lying flat on my back or using ice or heat. His assistant could not keep the information I gave her straight, he did not look at the MRI scans that I had brought and barely took five minutes in the office to read several MRI reports. Immediately telling me physical therapy would do the trick and was surprised that I wasn't already back at work even though he did not know the type of work I would be going back to. When I tried discussing the type of work I would have to do he walked out of the room. When I asked to talk with him again he sent in his assistant and she said "we aren't going to prescribe any medication". What all I needed was more clarification what it meant by… herniated disc/ protrusion and what to expect within the physical therapy. I was told that I didn't have a herniated disc even though my orthopedic surgeon said I did. I NEVER ONCE ASKED FOR A PRESCRIPTION. I had been taken the medicine given by the orthopedic surgeon as prescribed and had no need for any more. It was implied several times that I was addicted to the medication. My prescription is a very low form of oxycodone with APAP. In essence this doctor did not take the time to fully listen to my concerns and did not take time to carefully look at all the medical records I had brought with me. He also did not take time to discuss options other than physical therapy if it didn't work.
