I WANTED TO BE A PSYCHIATRIST SINCE THE AGE OF 13 AFTER DOING A RESEARCH A REPORT ON THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF SCHIZOPHRENIA. THIS WAS 1981 WHEN NIMH WAS CURRENTLY USING PET SCANS TO DIFFERENTIATE GLUCOSE METABOLISM IN A PERSON WITH SCHIZOPHRENIA VERSUS SOMEONE WITHOUT. BACK THEN, THERE WASNT INTERNET, SO MOST OF MY RESEARCH CAME FROM WRITING TO THE NIMH BEGGING FOR ANY INFO. IT WAS SURREAL TO MEET THESE RESEARCHERS, WHO WERE NOW IN TOP FACULTY POSITIONS AT PRESTIGIOUS UNIVERSITIES, WHEN I WOULD GO ON VARIOUS INTERVIEWS FOR RESIDENCY 16 YEARS LATER.

She spends lot of time with her patients and she is very caring. She is very smart and knowledgeable. She monitors medication side effects with labs. She explains her patients why she switches the medication. She is compassionate and caring.

I found her to be very compassionate. She spends more time to listen to me. She is trustworthy and very caring to me. She has extensive experience. She has deep knowledge with regard to Psychiatric medication and tells me about potential side effects. Also when necessary, she orders labs. She is the best Psychiatrist who truly cares about me.

Dr Syed is a practitioner with a rare combination of having great expertise and being very vested in her patients. I’ve seen her for over 20 years and she has been extremely effective in facilitating patient objectives.

Dr. Syed took the time to listen to me, explain my diagnosis, and explain the medication. Because she was switching my medicine to something else, she asked me how I felt about the switch instead of just doing it.

Dr. Syed is unusual in that she is a Psychiatrist, yet spent time with me. She took time to listen to me and to explain to me my diagnosis. Believe me, I have gone to other Psychiatrists who could care less. She also explained the reason why she was switching my medication, but also wanted my input on how I felt about the switch. I hope you can get in to see her.
