Dr. Zhen-Yu Tong

I had to have a second aortic valve/aortic root graft and unwisely chose Cleveland Clinic to perform this. To make things worse, I was assigned Dr Michael Tong who was supposed to have performed this surgery. He did not...I was left in the hands of a resident for a dangerous life threatening operation. I was lied to, I was not treated the way they make you believe you will be. The place is dark, old and draconian at best. I am 2 months out of surgery and still have issues that I am now being tested for here in my hometown. God forbid biut I may have to have a 3rd surgery!!! When I arrived in Cleveland I was on month 2 of what was at least a 6 month treatment of Xarelto (blood thinner). I was discharged by a PA!! I was not even discharged by DR Tong. I was given discharge instructions to stop taking Xarelto, which a PA should never be advising any patient to do and less than two weeks after I got home I had a stroke!!! I have come to find out that Cleveland Clinic is NOT what it is… built up to be. It is a farce, they overbook, they have residents doing surgeries. They say they are going to follow up with you every few weeks to check on your progress, i have not received one call. Oh, try to get your medical records...good luck. They aren't giving those up quickly.You are playing with your life if you choose to go there. My review of Dr Tong is less than 0 and I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him.
