Summary
I am a psychotherapist with over 20 years of experience. I have worked with individuals, couples, and families. I work with people dealing with a myriad of issues, from relationship or family issues to substance abuse, depression, anxiety, and trauma. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity and compassion. I don't believe in stigmatizing labels or judgment.
In addition to my academic education – a master’s degree in counseling psychology, and a doctorate in psychology – I have trained in multiple approaches including gestalt therapy, energy work, neurolinguistic programming (NLP), and psychodrama.
My therapeutic approach could best be described as eclectic, that is, I draw from many of these different therapeutic methods, usually favoring cognitive-behavioral therapy which looks at beliefs, values, thoughts, and changing behaviors, and gestalt therapy, which focuses on emotions. With each person, and in each session, I use the method that I feel will be most effective.
