Dr. Kartik Kalra, MD

Kartik Kalra, MD, is a nephrologist who specializes in treating kidney disease, electrolyte disorders and glomerular diseases. He also provides advanced kidney care for patients who need renal replacement therapies such as hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and continuous renal replacement therapy. He has particular expertise in IgA nephropathy and polycystic kidney disease.Dr. Kalra's goal is to find ways to discover kidney conditions earlier, helping patients get specialized care sooner for better long‑term outcomes. He credits his colleagues and work atmosphere with creating the collaborative environment needed to accomplish his goals. After earning his medical degree from Kasturba Medical College, Dr. Kalra completed a residency at Saint Peter’s University Hospital/Rutgers University. He then completed his fellowship in nephrology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He later completed advanced training through the GlomCon Glomerular Disease Fellowship Program, …where he continues to serve as a faculty mentor.As well as working directly with patients, Dr. Kalra is the associate program director of the Nephrology Fellowship Program at Geisinger Medical Center and an assistant professor of medicine at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine. He’s received the David R. Gutknecht Award for Excellence in Clinical Teaching and is featured on the Internal Medicine Faculty Honor Roll.
