Wonderful surgeon, saved my hip

Went in to see Dr Gendi for severe knee pain and unfortunately found out I needed total knee replacement for my knee. I was of course wasn’t happy about the news but he went through the surgical procedure and post surgery recovery time and physical therapy I’ll be needing. I was really worried since I have 3 little ones I need to take care of. And I’ve never had a big surgery before. He put my mind at ease. And was so thorough with everything. Well, Surgery went very well. Dr Gendi was great from our consultation to post surgery visits. He had great bedside manners He answered all my questions and explained everything very thoroughly. I would highly recommend him!

Do not see Dr. Kirollos! I went to see him for an issue with my thumb, and he was disinterested in what I had to say, and felt like he didn't care. He said I had arthritis in my thumb after doing x-rays and that there was nothing to really do. After several weeks of the pain getting worse, I reached out to the office multiple times for a refill of my anti-inflammatory medication. After two weeks of leaving voicemails for a refill and emailing the Dr. through the patient portal nobody would return a call, message or respond to the pharmacy that had reached out as well. I have never experienced an office ignoring a simple refill request. I ended up getting the medication refilled by my primary care dr. and made a complaint to Mt. Sinai about what happened. I found another orthopedist because I didn't trust Dr. Kirollos. The new orthopedist informed me that I don't have arthritis in my thumb but actually have a condition called "trigger finger" which is inflammation of the… tendon. I told him what Dr. Kirollos diagnosed me with and he said he was "clueless" if he couldn't diagnose trigger finger. Stay away from this provider and their office at Kane Concourse.

This was my experience with Dr. Kirollos Gendi: I made an appointment with this doctor because I have a problem in one of my toes. The pain I suffer from has made it impossible to do many of the things I truly enjoy in life. So obviously, when I visited Dr. Gendi I had high hopes that he could help me find a solution or treatment for my problem. As soon as I got to the consultation, his assistant insisted that I take an X-Ray, even though I had brought the results of an MRI. He did not listen to me nor did he care. He said: “I HAVE to take the X-Ray, you can discuss all this later with the doctor.” Once the doctor saw me, I asked about the MRI and he said: “I didn’t understand it, plus it was blurry.” I told him: how come you didn’t understand it? Aren’t you a doctor? And he said: “yes, I know how to read it but I disagree with the results(!).” I was totally confused by this answer, and he offered no further explanation of any kind. I then asked him about the X-Ray, to which he… answered: “oh, let me check it really quick.” I asked why he hadn’t checked it yet, since his assistant had made it seem so urgent to have it done. And he said: “I hadn’t checked it because you brought the MRI.” (which he couldn’t successfully interpret, of course). So, Dr. Gendi never gave me a diagnosis nor did he spend a second explaining what exactly was wrong with my toe. The only thing he said during our 3-minute consultation is that I have arthritis. There are many different types of arthritis, but of course he didn’t care to mention which one. He probably had no idea. He simply told me that he cannot help me. I was reduced to tears. Meanwhile, not one single nice word came out of his mouth, nor any reassurance that I might ever get better or even be able to treat my condition. NOTHING! I truly wonder what happened to this doctor? where is his compassion? His humanity? Not only is he unprepared as professional, he lacks the necessary empathy to be a physician. I would NEVER recommend this doctor under any circumstances. Do yourself a favor and avoid him at all costs.
