Dr. Prahar Shah

I’m a board-certified Physiatrist (PM&R or Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation) with advanced training in Interventional Pain Medicine. My approach to pain care is rooted in skillful diagnosis, evidence-based treatment, and a genuine commitment to treating the whole person - not just the pain. I specialize in the diagnosis and management of spine and musculoskeletal conditions, offering a range of treatments including physical therapy coordination, non-opioid medications, targeted injections, and minimally invasive procedures. I take the time to tailor each treatment plan to the individual, making sure it’s appropriate, goal-driven, and fits with the patient’s overall health and lifestyle. I believe that good pain management goes beyond medications and procedures. I focus on lifestyle changes, patient education, and long-term strategies that support meaningful, lasting relief. My goal isn’t just to reduce pain - it's to help patients move better, feel better, and get back to what …matters most in their daily lives. I live and practice in Raleigh, NC, and I’m proud to serve the local community as part of the UNC Health system. Outside of medicine, I enjoy playing tennis, board games, hiking, singing, learning guitar, and spending time with friends and family.
