Summary
Maria Soto, O.D. received her Doctor of Optometry from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2021, and earned her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences at Texas A&M University. Her fields of special interest include glaucoma, diabetes, and scleral lenses. When Dr. Soto was in high school, she knew she wanted to do something to help her twin sister who, as a result of not receiving treatment for amblyopia as a child, now lives with permanent vision loss. In addition, she wanted to pursue a career in the medical field, but desired to have a work-life balance that would allow her to have a family as well. She believes being an optometrist is the perfect fit, and she says she couldn’t have picked a better career. Dr. Soto loves having the opportunity to educate her patients about their overall eye health and helping them understand how they can prevent vision loss from things like diabetes, glaucoma, or wearing contact lenses. When she is not in the office treating …patients, Dr. Soto is loving her new role as a parent and being a mom to her beautiful baby girl.
