Jackie Wanjiru-Nwuzor, NP is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who is qualified to practice in the area of psychiatry. This includes diagnosing, treating, and prescribing medication for children, adolescents, adults as well as providing individual talk/psychotherapy services. Areas of expertise include but not limited to, diagnosis, treatment and management of ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, Panic Attacks, interventional treatments and Insomnia among many other psychiatric conditions. Jackie began her medical career as a nurse 19 years ago. During this time, Jackie had the privilege of working in diverse practice areas, including Medical-Surgical, Gerontology/Long-term care, Emergency Room, and Psychiatry. After spending time helping people with their medical and emotional problems, she realized her passion was in psychiatry where she has practiced for the last 12 years. She received an associate degree in nursing from the Community College of Baltimore County, a …Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from Coppin State University and a master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatric Mental Health from Walden University. She then continued with her graduate studies at Indiana University and received a master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner in Primary Care and a Post master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatric Mental Health. She is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) in Maryland and New York states. Jackie’s style of practice is a blend between traditional (prescribing up to date psychiatric medications) and alternative medicine (interventional treatments, vitamins, supplements, lifestyle modification, nutrition, exercise and stress management). She believes that the mind, body, spiritual and soul are connected; thus, they play a huge role in one’s overall physical, mental and emotional, and spiritual wellbeing.
