Shannon Male, FNP-BC, provides cancer care in Bourbonnais for adults receiving oncology services. She focuses on whole-person support, helping patients and loved ones navigate treatment, questions and follow-up care.I chose oncology because I value caring for the whole person, not only one symptom or one part of the body. Cancer care includes medical needs, physical symptoms, mental health and the support of caregivers and family. I tell patients, we're a team. That team includes physicians, nurses, front desk staff and everyone helping patients through their cancer journey. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona, and my Master of Science in Nursing, family nurse practitioner training, from the University of St. Francis in Joliet. I am board-certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. My clinical focus includes oncology, cancer treatment support, symptom management and helping patients understand care options as …treatments continue to change. I also value clinical trial data because it helps create new treatment options for future patients.
