Dr. Aaron Joel Feldman, MD

I have been a bedside nurse since 1992, 27 years. My most recent position is in the ICU. My husband died in 2011 in my home in our bed. My CPR didn’t work. A year later after suffering from grief and depression due to my husband’s death, also not going to lie, restarted smoking and put on weight, I suffered a stroke. I had to have an endarterectomy performed by Dr. Feldman. The next day he came into my room and said I lied to the neurologist Dr. Sermersheim. Said I didn’t tell him I smoked. I told every single doctor from ED to discharge the truth. I obtained a copy of my records and found where Dr Sermersheim had even documented that I was a smoker several weeks before, because I told him!!! I NEVER LIED!!!! After my surgery while I was still coming off anesthesia he told my friends and family when they asked about my fatigue recently that it had nothing to do with my stroke and they all complained that he was very rude about it. The next day after he called me a liar he told me… I could return to work in 2 weeks, which I was ver happy to hear because I didn’t want to be on STD for long I was told by the nurse that all patients are off for 6 weeks after an endarterectomy. He said I needed to go back right away so I wasn’t sitting around doing nothing!! Really. I was happy to go back early til I heard that. He had no clue about me and my life. That I worked 60-70 hours a week. Supported 3 kids as a new widow with one in college. I just wanted to scream. “I DONT SIT AT HOME AND DO NOTHING EVER” I had to go to Associate health to return to work and they requested a doctors statement to do so. So I called Dr. Feldmans office for the statement and his staff told me no it was too early, and if I were a lazy person sitting around doing nothing I could’ve gotten a 6 week off statement from them, but I’m not and wanted to return to work as soon as possible. So I asked them to call him. I got my return to work statement then. It’s just too bad that he had to judge me and treat me bad. Because of this treatment I have still not had any follow up. I do go to my PCP once a year to renew my BP MEDS, but feel too ashamed to call Dr Feldmans office or Dr Sermersheims office for follow up, which BTW, both should’ve have set that up or told me that. I know that as a nurse but a lot of lay people don’t know this. Poor communication and a huge cause for readmission.
