There is a thin line that separates rational from irrational. I know because I crossed that line once in my life. One night in crisis I called my therapist and she called Dr. Reliford because in her opinion my behavior showed that I posed a threat to myself. Dr. Reliford immediately called me and stayed on the phone with me until I arrived at the home of a trusted friend. He spoke to my friend and between the two of them I was convinced I had to go to Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital. Dr.Reliford called ahead so all I had to do was identify myself and the staff took over. This was the most frightening ordeal I ever experienced in my life and if not for Dr. Reliford I might not be here today to give this testimonial. Dr. Reliford has been kind, wise, and supportive in our meetings. His calm and respectful demeanor has made it easy to share my feelings without concern that I will be judged or misunderstood. He has both guided me through my options with clarity and also left the final decisions to me, making me an agent rather than the subject of my treatment. Dr. Reliford is an attentive listener and a highly effective communicator. He provides constructive suggestions for addressing problems and his approach is very effective. He pays attention to details and effectively assesses the need to modify and/or change medication. He demonstrates concern and makes you to feel comfortable discussing difficult experiences and sensitive information. He is pleasant to speak with and astute in his diagnosis.
