Dr. Abdul Haleem, MD

Abdul Haleem, MD, is a neonatal attending physician at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor, Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Haleem’s clinical focus is on the inpatient management of critically-ill newborn children, including premature (preemie and micropreemie) infants. He has a special interest in nutrition and preventive medicine in pediatric and adult populations, emphasizing lifestyle changes to reverse or cure chronic diseases.In 1990, Dr. Haleem earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at Sind Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan. After general surgery and internal medicine training at Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Center in Karachi, Pakistan, he came to the United States to continue his training. He completed his pediatrics residency at Harlem Hospital, Columbia University in 1998, and after several years in practice, pursued his neonatal-perinatal fellowship at New York Medical College …completing it in 2005.Dr. Haleem’s research focuses on nutrition and preventative medicine. He has shared his work through peer-reviewed journals and invited presentations.Dr. Haleem is board certified, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is a member of the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
