Unfortunately, there are millions of people who suffer daily with undiagnosed and diagnosed illnesses. Excruciating pains consume our bodies daily as we strive to rise, dress ourselves, cook our own foods, and engage in daily chores. For most of us, to fulfill most of these chores, is only a dream due to recurring debilitating pain. Having to get off my arthritis medication, because of acute kidney failure, left me in morbid pain day and night without ease. I went online in search of a rheumatologist in the Research Triangle who could help stop my suffering. My search lead me to Dr. L. Gilbert in Chapel Hill NC. In a rather soft and quiet demeanor, Dr. Gilbert welcomed me to her practice. After listening patiently to my concerns about my pains, I appreciated the fact that I was not readily dismissed, but taken seriously. Dr. Gilbert took her time to ask about my symptoms, medical history, and then examined me to help locate those pains for further diagnosis. Based upon what I… reported, my medical history, physical exam, and her professional knowledge; she came to a logical prognosis and gave me medicine to take with an appointment follow-up and bloodwork. In addition, she advised me to contact her if the medicine didn’t help to relieve the pain. In three days, the pain was still there, and I contacted her via the UNC online portal that night. Dr. Gilbert immediately called me the next day to my surprise. She told me that the medication I was taking should have taken effect for the diagnosis she gave me; therefore, indicating that her diagnosis and medicine were not correct. I totally appreciated her candor and honesty with a sincere effort to get me back into her office to discover my right diagnosis and medication. That alone, made me realize that she was a concerned and special physician who was committed to rid me of my pain by finding out its source and providing the proper medication accordingly. While I was still in pain, it felt good to know I could trust Dr. Gilbert totally with my healthcare. However, in two more days, I was anxious to leave a message for Dr. Gilbert that my pain had totally subsided, and I was able to wake up pain free and energized with the ability to bathe, dress, cook, drive long distance, and take on minor household chores! Thank God for Dr. Gilbert! My quality of life has changed for the better and I am grateful. Walking into church without my cane stick to thank God for this miracle, gave me plenty to be thankful for; especially for his mercy and for sending me to a fine physician like Dr. Gilbert. Now, I am able to walk from four to five miles with my rollator walker around my huge apartment complex. What a blessing! Forever Grateful, Jestine S. Jordan

I was so scared to have my knee injected. The last time I had it done was so painful! But she was quick and I barely felt it - I felt so much better after! She was great at putting me at ease and helping me understand her recommendations and plan going forward.

I saw this doctor a few weeks ago. She was by far one of the best doctors I have ever seen. She was warm, compassionate, and very thorough. She took her time to explain everything and all my options. I couldn't recommend her enough! Thank you Dr. Gilbert for caring so much!

Dr. Gilbert was very thoughtful, took her time to ensure we had the right diagnosis, ordered tests appropriately to learn more about my condition, and answered my questions. Glad to have her on my team!

She did not have good bedside manner. Very rude and inconsiderate. Prejudice and in a hurry. I would not recommend her to anyone!
