Dr Abraham A Lebenthal, MD

At 77 years old and 90 pounds, I was not a good candidate for surgery. Dr Lebenthal insisted that, (with his support), I could build myself up to be able to undergo the surgery if necessary. On first appointment, he told me what I needed to do and gave me a card with a number to text daily progress and convey any feelings or concerns. I texted, (sometimes lengthy), every evening 7 days a week for 4 months and he responded to everyone. I have never been under the care of such a thorough, caring, compassionate, and knowledgeable physician. He did not always agree with the findings of the radiologist and went to great lengths to discuss them before drawing his own conclusion. When I suffered the tragic death of my granddaughter, He called to offer his condolences personally. After a very comforting conversation, he subtly reminded me that I needed to continue working on myself. Dr Lebenthal made me feel like I was his only patient and made a huge impact on my life. He's Best of the Best!!

I was referred to Dr. Lebenthal by my primary care doctor because I had a spot on my lung. The spot turned out to be lung cancer and I was giving my options. Dr.Lebenthal told me I needed to stop smoking if I wanted to have the surgery, I needed a partial lobectomy. I quit smoking because I wanted to live. Now having been a smoker all my life I knew it was going to be difficult. It has been a year and a half since I had surgery and quit smoking and I feel great. Thanks to Dr. Lebenthal and his staff I am cancer free and a nonsmoker! My quality life has improved, I know longer get out if breath doing certain things and I can smell and taste better too. I highly recommend Dr. Lebenthal, he truly cares about his patients.

Dr Lebenthal put my wife and I at ease right from the Start. I was diagnosed with cancer of the lung. Dr. Lebenthal sent me for numerous tests the week before my surgery. The times we met before surgery he explained in great detail the procedure of my surgery. I’m very glad I was Referred to him. You are in good hands!

My husband was referred to Dr. Lebenthal by his Manchester, NH VA pulmonary doctor after a series of tests showed signs of left diaphragm plication. We met with Dr. Lebenthal and his excellent staff at the Boston VA hospital in W. Roxbury . Needless to write, we were both skeptical because of no knowledge about Dr. Lebenthal or thoracic surgery. However, after only a few minutes into our first consultation, we were very confident this was the dr. we wanted to do the surgery. He showed us the x-rays and explained everything in detailed simple terms we could understand about diaphragm plication in adult patients with diaphragm paralysis, answered every question we had, often remarking that our question was a good question. The surgery was about 5 hours and after the surgery Dr. Lebenthal was very good about explaining in detail what had been done and what the next several months would entail. The morning after the surgery my husband commented he could breath out his left nostril… for the first time in a very, very long time. His breathing has improved 100%. Dr. Lebenthal is excellent and we feel very fortunate we were referred to the best doctor and medical team in thoracic surgery. A few days after my husband was released he had a previously scheduled cat scan at the Manchester VA that showed fluid in his lung. Dr. Lebenthal was immediately contacted. We talked with Dr. Lebenthal directly and didn't have to waste time going through many persons and wait times to talk with the doctor. He had my husband return immediately to Boston VA and with no hesitation took care of the fluid issue. The care at the Boston VA facility, the staff and Dr. Lebenthal is exceptional. We have been blessed.

Love Love Love Dr.Lebenthal!! He is Real..He doesn't sugarcoat..He tells you the truth..I Trust him more Than any Dr I have every had. I came to Meet Dr. Lebenthal after my primary Dr. found a tumor in my lung thru a routine test. She scheduled me with Dr Lebenthal..He and his Staff have been exellent to me..I was given time attention and care..They really took the time with me that I needed. My tumor was taken out 5 weeks ago and Im ready to go back to work. I am so pleased with Dr. Lebenthal.. He really cares about his patients..
