Dr. Adam Burkey, MD

Stay away from this doctor. He did nothing to diagnose me. He seemed to be in another non-professional world and his communication was disjointed and far from medical. He did mention a book he was reading. He doesn't deserve one star.

I understand that the kinds of medical issues Dr Burkey is dealing with are complicated and don't often have a clear solution, but at some point it becomes a Kafkaesque nightmare. Dr. Burkey is more like a line cook than a doctor. It is clear that the office is very busy, and it leads to a terrible and honestly dehumanizing patient experience. You're lucky if you get more than a few minutes with Dr Burkey before he is prepping for his next surgical appointment. The staff in the office seem polite but they are also trying to get you out the door after surgery as fast as possible. Dr Burkey seems incredibly detached and indifferent in his bedside manner. He will continue to explore new and exciting surgical options, which combined with how the overall experience is makes you feel like you're being milked for all your insurance is worth. The bottom line is that Dr Burkey is either incredibly overworked and it takes a severe toll on his ability to practice patient-oriented care or Dr… Burkey just doesn't care and sees his patients as nothing other than dollar signs. Some people seem to report positive experiences, so if you are considering an appointment or referred to him, see for yourself and maybe you'll have a positive interaction. But if you don't like what you see, find someone else, it will only get worse.

Acts stoned most of the time.

I wouldn't let this man attend to a cat let alone a human. He didn't listen to a word I had to say. I doubt he even looked at my past medical information. You can find better.

Worst appt I have ever experienced for myself or others (career as clinical social worker). No eye contact, introductions and zero compassion or kindness. Dr. Burkey refused to read my medical records and told me I had a herniated disk causing my pain (w/ no evaluation or record review). I ended the appointment early due to his unprofessionalism and demeaning manner. He also wrote complete inaccuracies in my chart that thankfully did not impact my care with other ongoing providers.

Dr. Burkey is the best Pain Doctor ever.

I had been seeing Dr Burkey at Anesis Spine and Pain Clinic in Olympia for several months. Prior to Dr Burkey, I had an MRI and a request submitted to my insurance for a procedure to help with my pain, but because of a change in my insurance, I no longer was able to remain in this physician's care, which is what led me to Dr Burkey. I had all my records transferred from the other doctor to the Anesis Clinic, and I assumed Dr Burkey would have read them, but months later, after he had recommended treatments that were unsuccessful and, in fact, had left me in a severe amount of pain for days afterward, I asked why we were not pursuing what the other Dr had recommended. He asked me what that was, but the way I worded it was evidently incorrect, as Dr Burkey reacted as though I told a joke... So I told him to read the other Dr's notes, as I must not be wording things correctly. When I said this, he rolled his eyes, stomped one of his feet and made a huge sigh as if to say it was an… enormous imposition for him to be expected to read what another Dr had to say. I mean...why did his office even ask me for these records if he never intended to read them, and was going to have a tantrum about being asked to do so? And his staff is unprofessional as well, as in my experience in this clinic, I have been either checking in or out and discussing with the receptionist when and what my next appt is for, other people have approached her desk and started talking right over me, taking her attention from setting up my next appt and leaving me walking out without a good-bye or any kind of confirmation about my next appt or questions I was in the middle of asking.....UGH. Extremely frustrating, unprofessional place to deal with all-around.

I went to visit this doctor and he didn't even look at me. He proceeded to do some testing and somewhat barbaric with no empathy for those that suffer from chronic pain.

This dr did not introduce himself to me. He did not listen to anything I had to say. I felt as he desceiminated against me because I am young. I have real pain issues and he did not even look at my problem areas or give me an exam. This was possibly the worst dr I have ever seen. Would not recommend to anyone. If you are assigned to him I would recommend asking for a different provider.

Dr. Burkey gave me a diagnosis when others had not. I now have a decrease in pain and an easier life.
