From the initial consult through the procedure the following day Dr. Crowl was both professional & personable. He listened, he explained in a way I easily understood & was thorough. The procedure was nearly painless and there was actually fun conver- sation in the room with Dr. Crowl, the attending staff & myself. I expected good medical care & got it but I didn’t expect fun! Dr Crowl did a two level 360 fusion on me almost a year ago it was a two day open lumbar spine surgery. Ever since the surgery I’m in chronic pain the surgery made everything a hundred times worse it failed to address my original problem I had it only made it worse and now I have at least 5 different type of pain I never had in my life. I had to give up my job. I can’t walk more than 10 minutes because I have to sit down and that’s a good day.this surgery destroyed my life and my family’s life. The pain was extremely severe after the surgery then I’ve been waiting to recover but everything is just getting worse. I have severe spasms now with nerve pain I never had prior to surgery I have hard time keeping myself up it feels like someone is pushing me forward. Sometimes it feels like my whole spine column is on fire. I have hip pain now as well, and my whole back from top to bottom just hurts. Since the surgery I have balancing issues too it comes out of nowhere it feels like I’m… falling and I have to catch something to hold myself. My lower back where the screws and rods are extremely sensitive and painful it feels like my muscles and nerves being tucked under or stuck to my bone. I don’t feel comfortable in my own body anymore. This surgery destroyed me physically and mentally.I’m still in a disbelief of what happened to me and why this brutal surgery was recommended. Everything feels just crippling. Another doctor told me Dr Crowl over operated on me and this two day marathon surgery was completely unreasonable in my case. Another doctor saw my pre surgery MRI and said a 360 fusion ALIF/PLIF was an extremely mad move to treat my condition he said a simple decompression would’ve been enough, now a simply daily task is a struggle there’s nothing positive about this surgery just tons of negative I wish I would’ve died on that operating table. I still don’t understand why this extremely invasive and extremely high risk surgery that will only lead to more complications such as ASD and back pain and heaviness that will increase my pain levels was offered to treat me. If you need proper diagnosis go somewhere else before he performs an unnecessary surgery on you.Dr Crowl destroyed my life, just a simple task as getting out of bed is a huge deal then make myself to walk. Everything feels sharp and heavy in my back , and constant aches it’s a living nightmare what he has done to me. Do not let any doctor to perform an open spine surgery on you!!!! I was never offered any minimally invasive option, now I’m fighting to be able to walk for 10 minutes how does that makes sense??? I never had walking or standing issues pre surgery. Don’t trust this man, they won’t explain you the risks of the surgery and they’ll use your naiveness and takes advantage of your trust to perform the most invasive surgery that carries almost 50/50 risk because this is the most expensive. He didn’t care about my life obviously now I know, I’m stuck with this brutal surgery and its complications for life. There so many things I wanted to do in life definitely didn’t want to be a victim of this type of trap surgery. Never trust anyone and seek for three or even 10 advices before surgery. This was just wicked this surgeon literally broke my body with this procedure. The surgery never addressed any of my issues only made it worse and gave me at least 5 different crippling pains I never had before. Don’t be a victim of this procedure

On the day of my procedure I arrived at the exact time they asked me to and they took me almost right away as I sit down. When I went back to the back with a nurse everything went well. My nurse was very professional straight to the point with a nice attitude. I had taken the two pills of 5 mg of diazepam which relaxed me very well. I think the gentleman that came to take me into the procedure room Was the technician. I was met by Dr crowl who shared with me exactly what to do I got onto the gurney face down. I could tell right away that the whole team including the x-ray technician and whoever else was in the room knew exactly what they were doing they were straight to the point which is much appreciated. Yes the needles hurt . Dr crowl put a needle in five of them L2 L3 L4 and L5. I thought things went very well and I'm hoping that the pain will subside as the days go by. I think Dr crowl and all of the staff who were so kind to me and took care of me. Thank you so much. P.S.… Dr Crowl said it could take anywhere between 72 hours and 2 weeks to get a good result. Dr. Adam Crowl and the whole staff at Ortho of VA are absolutely fantastic. Dr. Crowl takes the time to listen to his patients and formulates the best plan to help . Dr Crowl gives detailed explanation on what needs to be done, how and why he thinks this is the best course of action. 100% Trust his judgement he has helped me through some tough times.

Very knowledgeable about vertebrae

I've been a long time patient with OrthoVA and have had a very good experience with several physicians. My latest appointments have been with Dr. Crowl for my upcoming back surgery. Yesterday was my second appointment with Him and I was very impressed. He explained his surgical plans in great detail, while looking at my images for a visual. He left no stone unturned. It was a lot of information to take in at one time, but I wasn't apprehensive about moving forward with the surgery and putting a date on the calendar.

Dr Crowl takes the time to explain everything to you making sure you understand. I would highly recommend him to anyone.
