After three years of not knowing what was wrong with me my primary care nurse practitioner and I had a conversation and she said, "I can hear you breathing from here!" She sent me to Dr. Rubin. One office visit and he told me I had idiopathic subglottic stenosis (narrowing of the trachea). My sons told me I sound like Darth Vader! Two months later, I had surgery and now I am happy to say I CAN BREATHE. And no more shortness of breath, coughing and struggling to make it up a flight of stairs. Dr. Rubin did a fantastic job, he is an incredible surgeon! He is kind and compassionate and his staff along with the staff at the hospital RAVE about him as a person and as a surgeon! Thank you Dr. Rubin, I have my life back!!!!!

A huge shout out for Dr Adam Rubin, St Clair Shores, Mi. I met Dr Rubin 5 yrs ago. I was having huge issues with my vocal cords. Which I found out a name, finally, for this problem.(Spazmonic Dsyphonia) Which took me 20 yrs to find out what was wrong with me. My vocal cords were not working(banging together correctly) as a normal persons. I was having hard times with talking and would just stop talking because it hurt to speak. I could only get breathe from my chest area not my lower abdomen. A constant battle for me. Frustrating. Finally, finally, I found DR Rubin with the help of my family dr., Dr Chris Harrison. Dr Rubin worked with me through these last 5 yrs, trying everything. Speech therapy, trying Botox shots into my vocal cords to plump them up. For me that didn't last more then 3 to 6 months if lucky. He had one other option he could do and that was, Thyroplasty. ( Implants), that were put on my vocal cords. We didn't know if this would work or not. … Praise the Lord, and all the people who prayed for me. God made me wait 20 yrs for the right surgeon DR Rubin, and the right procedure, I AM SPEAKING AND STARTING TO EVEN SING. DR Rubin was just as excited as I was. All of his assistants were amazing. I had a cyst on my vocal chord (twice). Dr. Rubin removed the first, while I was under, and the second with a local. I have had great results both times. He was very detailed in explaining each procedure and how recovery would go. After years of being hoarse, I have my normal voice back. I have seen a number of Dr.'s before seeing Dr. Rubin. I would highly recommend him to anyone. He is simply the best.

For months I was experiencing horrible pain in my throat, ear and jaw. Many other doctors dismissed my concerns and told me it was anything from allergies to acid reflux and the medications I was given never did anything. Finally after begging my PCP for a referral, I saw Dr Rubin. Everyone I met in the office was extremely nice and welcoming. Within 10 minutes they had figured out what my problem was. Dr Rubin explained my diagnosis thoroughly, answered my millions of questions and solved my problem that day. He diagnosed my Hyoid Bone Syndrome and performed the steroid injections I needed the same day in office. The next morning I woke up pain free for the first time in EIGHT MONTHS. Not only did he solve my problem, but he was not bothered by all my questions and spent time discussing ongoing treatment to ensure it never returns. Just an overall awesome experience!

When I found out I needed vocal cord surgery due to an injury, it was about the scariest news I could have received. But despite my fear, I had complete confidence in Dr. Rubin's capability to restore my voice so I would be able to engage in my vocation (as an executive coach) and my avocation (as a professional singer.) Yesterday, 48 days after surgery, I was able to sing before my church congregation. It's hard to describe the depth of gratitude I feel toward Dr. Rubin and the Lakeshore Voice Center Team. Thank you just doesn't seem to suffice.

Dr. Rubin is by far one of the best doctors we have ever seen. He is our sons physician and diagnosed his vocal cord issue and performed surgery. We cannot say enough wonderful things about the care he has provided, he is the absolute BEST! I don’t know what we would have done without him. Great doctor, great practice!

I had a paralyzed vocal cord, a result of a thymectomy performed by another doctor. I was referred to Dr. Adam Rubin because I couldn’t breathe or talk normally. I also choked on everything that I drank. Dr. Adam Rubin performed a surgery that restored my voice. I can breathe normally and I do not choke when I drink. God blessed me with the expertise of Dr. Rubin. He was kind, understanding, patient and everything that he advised me of was totally on point. His treatment of me was perfect.
