Dr. Spivack appeared to lack a human dimension in conversations and seems somewhat devoid of empathyâ??qualities needed in his profession. He also reinforced negative stereotypes about the psychiatry profession.

Dr. Spivak is afraid to add new medications or to collaborate with the patient. In the field of psychiatry, you have to listen to the patient! after all, they are the ones who have to experience side effects & mood problems!!! he was dismissive of the reasons i gave for not wanting to take certain types of medication and made it seem like i was just being difficult. He only wanted to prescribe new drugs that he was familiar with instead of drugs that are the "gold standard" and have fewer side effects. Basically, he only wants to do what he's comfortable with. I get it. But if you want to work in psychiatry, you just can't have that attitude. Horrible.

my issue has been established and re-affirmed over the past many months, in part by dr. spivack.i have another-completely unrelated-medical condition and am on a medication that has essentially zero effect on anything relating to the issue for which i saw dr. spivack. he admits to not understanding the other medication, and refused to prescribe anything to me, even in very small doses that i have taken before. those low doses were effective, but minimally and i responded well to them.
