Dr. Adam Christian Tripp, MD

Dr. Tripp has a calming, personal and direct approach that really gets to the core of what's going on without feeling cold, clinical, or removed from emotion. He and the folks he works with are just super kind and understanding, and really supportive of getting better. They really live up to their name. When I came to Dr. Tripp, I had been at a personal rock bottom from years of alcoholism and undiagnosed bipolar disorder slowly ruining my life. I was in genuine crisis when we met, almost completely dissociated and really contemplating suicide. If I hadn't seen Dr. Tripp when I did, and if I didn't get his expert care, I don't know that I'd even be here writing this. Thank you Dr. Tripp, and to everyone else at Better Stories. After having some less than great experiences with psychiatrists, I've been glad with my experience with Better Stories and Dr. Tripp. He saw me by video chat, which I was appreciative of given the risk of the virus. He was very thorough, we discussed therapy versus medication, exercise, and mindfulness to help my symptoms. I feel like I am in good hands.

Dr. Tripp is very easy to talk to and open to hearing and interpreting troubles and challenges. He is trustworthy and aware of so many holistic interventions and suggestions that really create healing and confidence. A great listener and an insightful physician.

Dr Tripp is fantastic -- I saw him for nearly 2 years and the only reason I don't see him now is because my insurance changed. My fiancé also saw him for a while and also had a good experience, he only left because he does not want to take medications at the moment. I have severe treatment-resistant depression (plus more controlled GAD), and Dr Tripp was very open to non-drug treatments since the medicines I tried didn't help. If I had been able to stay with him, our next plan was for TMS therapy or ketamine therapy. Can't recommend him enough!

Dr. Tripp was very thorough and asked a lot of questions to get the full breadth of my struggles at my first visit. After we discussed my concerns and symptoms, we talked about therapy, exercise, and meditation and mindfulness before every discussing medication. Finally after discussing various medications, we decided together what I thought would be most helpful for me. I really appreciated the collaborative nature at our first visit, and follow up care over the last 3-4 months, and I am feeling much better now, and we have been discussing how and when I might be able to come off medication and continue with my own self care to help with any symptoms I may experience in the future.

This guy read a questionnaire from his laptop and was yawning the entire time. He then listed off gross detail about benzos, SSRI's, etc. and then just asked me what I wanted to do? Why would I see a psychiatrist if it was all up to me? He gave me such a baseline, by-the-numbers prescription, one of them being a sleep aid because I mentioned that I sometimes have trouble falling asleep (who doesn't?). I was disgusted by how impersonal the experience was and felt more anxious after leaving. I never picked up my prescription and cancelled my follow-up appointment the next day. He calls his practice "Better Stories". Mine was not one of those. Avoid this practice.

I started seeing Dr Tripp about 6 months ago. I had 2 visits to ER's in 5 days due to depression and severe panic attacks. I literally couldn't function. The ER visits to 2 hospitals in the Eastern part of Pittsburgh only resulted in "sorry, we aren't really equipped to help you unless you are going to hurt yourself. Follow up with your regular doctor". My primary care physician threw the normal anti depressants/anti anxiety meds at me to try. Nothing helped me. It took me a few weeks to get a "new patient" appointment with Dr Tripp. His help was worth the wait. I've been seeing Dr Tripp and supplementing with psychologist visits for therapy. It's been a long road but worth the effort. My only regret is I waited until I feel I hit "rock bottom" before seeking help.

I came to Dr. Tripp with the recommendation with my therapist. We worked on several issues, and he was responsive and helpful to me, as well as working collaboratively with my therapist, and we also discussed mindfulness techniques and exercise and other things to help me help myself with my struggles. Would recommend to anyone seeking help with their symptoms

I came to Dr. Tripp on the recommendation of my therapist. I had never been on medication, and was unsure about whether it was right for me. Dr. Tripp spent a long time discussing medication options, but also the importance of psychotherapy and other treatments, and provided a new patient resource guide with things I could try to help myself. He listened well and was attentive to my concerns. I would highly recommend him to other people struggling.

Notice how all the "5-star" reviews are phrased in the exact same manner, and all the negative reviews seem like they're written by actual people with more rich/detailed experiences. Dr. Tripp is borderline Asperger's, he has no sense of humor, no empathy for the great amount of suffering that entail real mental illness, and makes petty/pedantic points to make himself feel superior. If you're diagnosed with an actual mental illness, and weren't just told you should try drugs (cuz why not), avoid this man like the plague. He has no business practicing psychiatry (or any medicine for that matter), and should've probably pursued a career that doesn't mainly revolve around people --- a topic he knows nothing about.
