Dr. Adriana Lorena Alvarez

My wife died while under the care of Dr. Adriana Alvarez. I'm not blaming Dr. Adriana Alvarez for her death, but I do believe that much more could have been done to prolong her life. My wife was assigned to Dr. Adriana Alvarez shortly after being diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. I truly believe that the Cleveland Clinic let my wife down by assigning her an oncologist that didn't specialize in stage 4 colon cancer. My wife trusted the system and it cost her an early death. In my wife's case, Dr. Adriana Alvarez was little more than a "chemotherapy pusher." Dr. Adriana Alvarez talked a good game about "thinking outside the box" in regard to treatment options, but was never really able to do more than talk. I could go on and on about the failed efforts of Dr. Adriana Alvarez and the Cleveland Clinic in general, but I'm still grieving for my wife and don't want to continue to relive the heartbreak of my wife's final few months on this earth. My wife wanted to live more than anything,… and she was willing to fight for her life. But the mediocre efforts of Dr. Adriana Alvarez were not going to allow that to happen. What I learned from this experience is this: If you are diagnosed with cancer, find an oncologist that specializes in the type of cancer that you have. The Cleveland Clinic won't hesitate to send you to an oncologist like Dr. Adriana Alvarez, who's real specialty is palliative medicine and hospice care. It's up to you to find a good oncologist who will fight for you. Don't settle for what the system gives you. Dr. Adriana Alvarez signed my wife's death certificate, but she didn't even have the decency to call our family and offer her condolences. Again, don't settle for what the system gives you. Find a good oncologist who will fight for you every step of the way.
