Dr. Adrienne Leigh Carey, MD

An MRI from another source showed that i had a dangerous bone infection at the tip of my right toe. It took about 3 weeks to get an appt. After spending about about hour being intensively screened by an infectious disease student she was training and a brief delay, Dr Casey arrived indicating she had been briefed on my problem. Without examining my toe she indicated that she did not believe In the effectiveness of antibiotic treatment (I was told that her report to the referring doctor absolutely prohibited any antibiotic treatment) and told me my toe would have to be amputated. Then she briefly looked at my toe wound. She never asked or indicted she was aware of any thing but foot circulation suitable for surgery (I have severe micro vascular disease in my toes which might prevent healing and thus removal of the foot). While i am elderly and handicapped in hands and feet from a cervical spine surgical accident, i have mobility, She did not apparently know or care that i was single… living alone with no nearby family or caregiver and would be forced from independent living into expensive and restrictive assisted living -a terminal probability for me. She did not even suggest a biopsy prior to surgery. She spent only 10 to15 min. for the exam. I have encountered insensitive physicians in the past but as unprofessional as this. And to think this woman was teaching future infectious disease specialists is appalling.
