Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud Abdel Megid, MD

Decided I had PMR not RA and caused me months of unnecessary exruiating debilitating pain.

Excellent in his field Very knowledgeable, open minded and personable. Very easy to talk to. He made me laugh.

My calls and request for advice goes unanswered. This is the second time I called asking to speak with Dr. Megid and was treated like I had no right requesting to speak with my doctor. I have been a patient of Dr. Megid for over a year now. I was diagnosed with systemic lupus 4 years ago and I fear it has gotten worst. Even if Dr. Megid is too busy to speak with me the receptionist should not have been so dismissive. I swear if they wanted to charge me for speaking with the doctor I would have paid. I was just very concerned about my health and having a flare up during this virus outbreak.

This is the second time I am being ignored by the Somerville office. I have systemic lupus (SLE) and have been a patient of Dr. Megid for over a year now. This week I am having terrible chest pains and have been very sick so I called the Somerville office requesting advice from the doctor as a lupus patient about what to do during this virus outbreak and if I should take the prescribed steroid I was given during a flare up. I was told that I cannot speak with Dr. Megid and that a nurse will probably call me back. I got no response. The receptionist was rude and sounded like she had no interest and like I had no right requesting to speak with my doctor. I swear if they wanted to charge me over the phone I would have paid, I was just concern about my health. I made a call like this before two months ago and got no response so it is not surprising that this happened again. I am 32 years old and I fear my SLE has been worst but Dr. Megid’s office can care less. I am not sure if the… receptionists are delivering the messages to Dr. Megid or not, but this isn’t the right way to treat a patient. I feel completely hopeless and mistreated. Even if Dr. Megid was extremely busy, the receptionist should at least be a bit less rude and pretended to have an interest and not sound like I was ruining her day. Very rude, unprofessional and dismissive receptionist.

Smart, courteous and compassionate doctor. One of the best I’ve ever visited.

He listens closely - responds - looks at you, not at a computer. Very personable - and proper diagnosis and treatment.....blessed to have him treat me.

He does damage. His staff is very unprofessional and is more interested in ordering a free lunch from the pharma rep than taking a patient Med out of the fridge. Then I was admonished for not reminding her to take the Med out of the fridge and do her job. And I waited from 10:15 until 12:45 for my appointment. This practice is a disgrace. It's all about the cash. I had an emergency. Couldn't walk. He did not return my call all day. I ended up calling the emergency number which he legally has to return. He said "So go to an ER and stop calling me". The ER docs were appalled. They gave me referrals to 3 other doctors. dont go to this practice. He will do damage to you. He's TERRIBLE.

Dr Megid has no idea how to mix a biologic medication. DO NOT SHAKE. And yet he shook it, deactivated the protein and I was in sever pain. So he said "you must have bone cancer". I had an allergic reaction to another med and he said "go to a dermatologist". This is scary. My current doctor said "Never wait or go to a derm CALL me day or night. Allergic reactions are very serious". He was stunned at the lack of care I received from Megid. Is he even a Board Certified Rheumatologist??

I won't recommend this doctor. All he wants from you is money. Push for unnecessary followup visits, he will not give you the blood test result, you have to have an appts for that. He is very uncaring arrogant and rude, his staff is horrible.

Amazing! I have been to several doctors about my hands, and Dr Megid so simply put together all the symptoms that I never considered might be related and gave a diagnosis. I have been reading further about the diagnosis, and it all seems to fit so perfectly! He was kind, and he spent a long time conversing with and evaluating me. I am excited to feel better!
