Aimee Potter

I am passionate about working with youth, children, families, Veterans, and disenfranchised populations, whom often are unable to access mental health services, to increase their functioning and healthy maintenance of their relationships. I have skills working with abuse/neglect, substance use, trauma, domestic violence, and mental illness. I grew up in Chicago, and I am committed to providing a service to my community, to better the lives of the individuals struggling. I have also spent extensive time in Colorado, both growing up and as an adult, living there for 2 years during the Pandemic with my family. I am dedicated to providing resources and linkage to my clients, to provide the skills needed to become independent, self-sufficient, productive individuals, engaged in healthy relationships and communication.

I utilize cognitive-behavioral approaches, as well as family systems theory, and Adlerian theory in a comforting, mutually respectful, and nurturing therapeutic environment. …I have more than 10 years of experience working including forensic social work with juvenile detainees, adult corrections, Veterans, substance use, dual diagnosis, families and mental illness.

I have a passion for helping people apply coping skills and stress management strategies to better their lives and stabilize their interactions with others. I believe in the strength-based approach of honing in on the intrinsic skills of individuals, to be able to function successfully in their lives.
