Dr. Ajay Kumar Mathur, MD

Luckily I haven't been to this doctor since 2019. I was referred to him by my PCP but went on to find my own rheumatologist. I have RA and fibromyalgia. I had a doctor in a previous state say I had lupus/RA. I wasn't sure, but I needed to establish a doctor here in PA. Big mistake coming here! All I wanted to do is establish a team of people to help me as I age and he was incredibly dismissive. He used an outdated assessment to determine I had fibromyalgia although his site claims he stays up to date. He didn't believe I have RA although other professionals disagree. I am young. I didn't ask for this. I wanted no drugs. Seriously, never mentioned medication because RA drugs have a lot of side effects. I did not ask for pain meds, but he asked me numerous times if that's what I was trying to do, anyway. I simply wanted to establish a team of doctors and get physical therapy. It was bizarre. It was dehumanizing. I look forward to more doctors like this retiring.

Dr. Mather was recommended to me by my family physician and I waited three months for an appointment to see him. When I got there, he seemed to have made up his mind that there was nothing wrong with me. I tried my best to describe my symptoms and his answer was always “Everyone has that”. Eventually he ordered bloodwork and X-rays and told me to not come back, just to call for results. When I did so the nurse told me that I was borderline RA but not to do anything about it. I seriously don’t know where to go from here. Very frustrating and I wouldn’t recommend him to anyone.

Find a better Dr.

I’ve observed that I am one of the younger people he sees, yet he was quick to throw a diagnosis at me without asking me many questions. Didn’t ask anything dealing with family history, and blamed all my pain on fibromyalgia. Was quick to write me a script, yet I am terrified to take the medication because it can have serious and fatal complications with other medicine I take on a regular basis (which he knew I was prescribed). Even though some of my labs came back flagged, he hesitantly ordered more blood work and acted very annoyed to do so, like he didn’t want to be bothered. Not very happy with the outcome.

This foreign trained Doctor thinks highly of himself and has little to no respect for American trained Doctors who are head and shoulders above him in credentials and experience.

I have seen other Rheumatologist's , and by far Dr. Mathur was and is the best. He listen's , and understands and takes his time to explain everything. I would and have recommended him to my family and friends.

With the right medicine combination, I was able to function normally on a daily basis. Thank you Dr. Mathur!

Dr. Mathur is by far one of THE best Dr's. I have seen. He is very kind, caring, gentle and is genuinely concerned about his patients. I have recommened him to others and will continue to do so. His staff at his Monongahela office are just wonderful. They're willing to go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and welcomed. Long story short, It's not common to find Dr's. like Dr. Mathur as well as his staff just any where these days. They are just the best!
