Dr. Akber Ali Khan, MD

I've been a patient of Dr. Khan for nearly 20 years. His ability to identify what's happening with you is uncanny. He explains, in lay terms, so you can wrap your mind around what steps to take next. I will not switch to another PCP. I'm in good hands.

Dr.Akber Khan is our family doctor and I must say he is one of the best doctor I ever seen. His diagnose is amazing. I had few health problems and amazingly he called me in the night just to find out how I am doing. When he heard I am having problem he rightway ordered my medicine to 24 hours Pharmacy around 12am. I never seen any doctor doing this. He is always concerned about his patients. God bless him. I would wait in a que for hours to see this kind of doctor. I wish I can give him 10 stars.

I have been seeing dr. Khan for a few years. I have a syndrome that is VERY difficult to diagnose and treat most doctors I have seen in my adult life don’t know what it is. Dr khan took the time to learn about it!! It was such a wonderful to see a doctor take a personal interest in me and this health problem. Dr khan is very compasionsate and thorough. The takes his time with each patient. Wait time is a little long sometimes but he has wonderful massage chairs while you wait?? I highly recommend him to everyone!

I heard about dr AKBER khan at work from a colleague. I was suffering from a problem since years and no specialist or test or scan could figure out.I know their was something growing inside of me and I would be dying soon.But years passed with extreme suffering but I did not die.I wanted to die.My colleagues forced me to see this doctor just once.I went.Sat in the lobby for 2 hours.I wanted to leave.I knew it would a similar routine visit with fake hopes.But I sat because the lobby big grand TV was playing a movie which reminded me of my happy days.My Turn came AND I was called in.I requested to delay my appointment for half and hour to finish my happy days movie.I went in after watching the movie.A humble guy knocked AND came inside and spoke to me as though me knew for years.He chatted few minutes about non medical related things.I felt at ease while answering him.A sense of natural calm sorrounded me.He did not ask me what my problem was and I was very hesitant to talk on my… own.Finally,I broke the ice.I started non stop and grieved for almost 30 mins.He never interrupted me and was seeing me eye to eye non stop.He listened with utmost attention and interest.I felt bad for him for wasting his time as I am on public aid and I knew he apparently he did not know but he knew it before he entered the room.Once I stopped talking,he started speaking in non medical terms and laid out my whole situation so articulated that one issue had connection with another and the answer was right there infront of me.To my surprise,he even gave me options to choose.I told me I will go by his advice.He politely responded to pick any option which suits me.I did.I went back in 7 days just to tell all my ailments are gone.He did not pay much attention to my good comments towards him but in return complimented and thanked me for following the advice and doing a great home work.It has been years.Not a single day I suffered and I knew he tapped few things which others missed by writing prescriptions and tests to every complain I had.He even gave me the option of repeating the tests for my satisfaction.I refused.Dr khan gave me facts with conviction.I believe it is because he listened and got my real dilemma.Laid out so clear.Donot go to him for sore throats or refferral.All my past refferrals and tests went waste.He did not even look at my reports of past but preferred to listen to my talk.He connects facts with conviction.I trusted him because of his patience towards my non stop talking and it brought me back my life.I am more better than I was 9 years ago.All 5 stars for him.

The most terribel staff in the area!! Wendy, Sidra, Shala, Asma you name it!!! They talk gossip about other patients in front of other patients who are waiting in the lobby. And also make fun of them! Every time I have called to make an appointment they are never open! I have ti wait atleast 4-5 days for an appointment. For my last visit i had to wait 2 hours in the waiting area and then finally was put in a room, there to wait for another 45 minutes!!! Doctor himself kept on stepping out of the room to see other patients and keeping me waiting!! My appointment wast at 5:30pm and had left the office after terrible treatment at 9:30!!! This is by far the worst clinic in the whole chicago area! Stay away if you want to avoid rude fobby attitude from the staff!! Also the staff eats on the front desk and always talking behind each others back! They even nad mouth about the doctor on the front desk!

While Dr. Khan is a nice guy, he doesn't always review test results with the patient--he often has his staff call the patient with simple comments like "everything normal" when there are probably some things that could use a bit of extra attention. His office hours are "strange", and it's difficult to get a hold of him. Also, his reception/desk staff is terrible. They're unprofessional and many of them don't know how to do the job properly. I understand they may work for less, but you get what you pay for. And I don't know who provides the answering service, but they're rude, curt, and unprofessional. I can't even tell you how many times I've received terrible service over the telephone. The lousy staff is enough to make me drop this doctor, and it's the staff that deserves the ONE STAR rating.

I went to him thinking i would need to wait an hour long for an appointment, boy was i wrong. Amazing doctor who actually pays attention to you. Doesn't just try to prescribe medicine and leave. Listens and really cares.

Dr. Khan is a good doctor, but the staff in the office seem to have a high turnover and many of the aides have tatoos etc and seem to be out of sync with the clinics practices etc.

I was referred to Dr Kahn by St Alexius hospital. The staff physician told me Dr Kahn was the best in the area and that I would be in very good hands. I set up an appointment and was not disappointed. Dr Kahn is highly competent and is a doctor who has genuine compassion for people. He recommended a safe, risk free treatment for me that has prevented me from having severe sinus headaches. I have not had a sinus headache in 4 months. This is the first time in 15 years I have gone more than a few days without a sinus headache or infection. I have never felt healthier. I am deeply appreciative for this very good man and doctor.
