Dr. Akinlolu Sunmolu Beckley, MD

This man should be wearing a superhero cape as my life was saved by his skillful hands and mind. I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer (highly aggressive and invasive) in November of `23. Akin Beckley, MD was the only breast oncology surgeon in the region that I came across who was willing to modify a tight surgical schedule to get me in before my prognosis would have worsened. I told him that I was "desperate" to have the tumor removed and kept getting the neoadjuvant chemo run-around from other practices as well as "We can see about getting you in January of `24". January?! He remarked that I am being REASONABLE in wanting immediate excision. His semi-soliloquy to himself: "I am going to help this woman" " and he did exactly that, operating on me before Christmas, with a superb bedside manner and a winning smile. He made sure my parents understood what was to happen during the double mastectomy and he even made an effort to speak with my 10-year-old about her… thoughts on the matter. He does not rush questions nor behave all pompous or authoritarian like an "MDeity". His character archetype is the same as my favorite former boss who also saved me, just differently, in 2002. If you want a doctor who does NOT treat you like another number, this man may be your surgeon. He is well-respected at the hospitals and he has great energy, plus precision in surgical technique. He sure knows how to facilitate smiles and singing from the hills by this formerly downtrodden cancer patient. Do your due diligence and place Dr Beckley at the top of your surgical investigation. As an employee at BCH and a nurse, I have a 'bird's eye' view of surgeons and their work. I chose Akin Beckley for my surgical experience because I knew, first hand, how well his patients do post operatively. He has a great partner for any back-up needs. Having confidence in your provider and their team is key in recovery. I have that whole-heartedly for Dr. Beckley.

He explained the options and possibilities. I chose for him to excise the lesion and he did so without delay, in the office, that day. He was at all times professional and skilled.
