Dr. Akinyinka Abidemi Ajelabi, MD

Dr. Akinyinka Ajelabi, MD, is a board-certified pulmonologist and intensivist with over a decade of clinical experience. He currently serves the Kingwood, Texas community and surrounding areas of Harris County at Kingwood Pulmonary, PA. Originally from Ibadan, Nigeria, Dr. Ajelabi earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Ilorin. He completed a rotational internship at Base Hospital in Lagos before relocating to the United States in 1997. His postgraduate training includes an internship and residency in internal medicine at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center in New York, followed by a fellowship in pulmonary care, critical care, and sleep medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Board-certified by both the American Board of Internal Medicine (in Sleep Medicine and Pulmonary Disease) and the American Board of Sleep Medicine, Dr. Ajelabi has held several prestigious roles throughout his career. These include positions as a medical director, staff …pulmonologist, and intensivist, notably serving as the Medical Director of the ICU at Kingwood Medical Center. He is an active member of respected professional organizations, including the American College of Chest Physicians, the American College of Physicians, and the American Thoracic Society. In recognition of his dedication and excellence, he received the Physician of the Year Award in 2013.
